Summary: Procure goods/services and support sourcing and purchasing needs for assigned stations/business units, providing industry, technical, and supply chain expertise. Manage inventory and suppliers to deliver the highest quality, reliability and value to meet company and station/business unit requirements. Provide expertise to support business and system processes utilized in sourcing, purchasing, and managing materials.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist in gathering and analyzing industry, economic, market, and spend data.
  • Supports identification of opportunities for leveraging spend by category.
  • Implement sourcing and negotiation strategies for key spend areas to achieve short and long term savings targets.
  • Measure and track performance within defined spend category.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with current and potential suppliers.
  • Develop, negotiate, and administer contracts with suppliers.
  • Participate in cross-functional sourcing teams to evaluate potential and current suppliers.
  • Support execution of supplier KPIs and demonstrate continuous improvement.
  • Review and coordinate gathering of technical, cost, and delivery requirements.
  • Create and evaluate quotations/bids, and recommend suppliers for sourcing selection.
  • Negotiate and place purchase orders.
  • Ensure timely delivery of goods/services.
  • Coordinate resolution of accounts payable and delivery issues.
  • Review and process claims against suppliers for unsatisfactory materials, delivery, or equipment.
  • Ensure site warehouse personnel comply with Supply Chain policies and procedures.
  • Execute practices to ensure that optimum inventory levels are sustained while minimizing shortages and delays.
  • Respond to audits, surveys, or other informational requests from internal and external sources.
  • Actively promote and support company Supplier Diversity initiatives.
  • Effectively communicate the impact of sourcing decisions to management and employees as appropriate. Actively enroll their support.
  • Ensure compliance with company and Supply Chain policies.

  • Knowledge of purchasing policies, procedures, and practices (e.g., negotiation, business law, data analysis, forecasting, economic models, financial reports, business plans, and budgeting).
  • Analytical ability to process supplier performance and cost data and market intelligence
  • Knowledge of mathematical calculations required to support inventory and procurement strategies.
  • Knowledge of Uniform Commercial Code and business law.
  • Proficient in computer applications and SAP or other ERP system and ability to broaden knowledge as new technology becomes available.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily an office environment.
  • Some overtime required as special projects arise.

 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline. Applicable experience in related disciplines or industries may be substituted for the degree requirement. Partial credit may be given for Associate or technical degrees/certification. Experience in energy industry preferred especially in electricity generation/retail industry.

 

Experience: 3-5 years in sourcing, procurement, warehousing or logistics..
