Job Summary:

 

The Contractor Projects Coordinator coordinates the use of contractors throughout the plant.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes plans to accomplish construction/maintenance work
  • Assists in budget preparation and monitors budget compliance
  • Monitors activities and initiates actions that support the accomplishment of the work
  • Provides, through own experience or with the assistance of other subject matter experts, appropriate technical guidance to accomplish the work
  • Plans a job, assembles a team, and ensures the plan is effectively implemented
  • Communicates information relative to the accomplishment of the work
  • Collects and analyzes data to create documents, including reports, memos, graphs, charts, tables, etc.
  • Provides feedback relative to the results of task accomplishments into the development of new plans
  • Coordinates interfaces between various work groups
  • Gains cooperation and action from people not under employee’s direct control
  • Reviews and provides input on changes in the original work plan
  • Initiates/participates in continuous improvement planning and implementation in assigned area of responsibility
  • Ensures Company resources are used in a cost effective manner
  • Supports and emphasizes the importance of safety and environmental programs and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Recognizes problems and is proactive in helping to resolve them
  • Ensures work performed by external service providers is in support of objectives, responsibilities, and contractual agreements
  • Ensures constructability process for specific projects, as appropriate
  • Approve external service providers expenditures, as required

 

Working Conditions:

  • Power plant environment with exposure to all weather conditions including heat and humidity
  • Requires operation of a motor vehicle
  • Work over and non-standard working hours as required
  • Requires occasional travel outside service area
  • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
  • May be required to work at heights and around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of High school or equivalent (GED) education and 5 years of Construction Management and/or Contractor Coordination in a related field
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Basic understanding of the power plant processes, systems, assets, resources, key personnel, and business functions
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all individuals
  • Ability to use a personal computer and standard business software
  • Ability to perform as a team member or leader in a cross-functional team environment and achieve consensus decisions
  • Ability to read, create and follow written policies and procedures
  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Ability to understand and interpret drawings and specifications in area of responsibility
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply industry and NRG standards and codes in area of responsibility
  • Ability to use basic math and algebra to perform calculations
  • Ability to become proficient in the working knowledge of construction/maintenance practice and procedures
  • Basic knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement
  • Knowledge of power plant systems and operation consistent with level of responsibility

Physical Requirements (Demand and Frequency):

  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect or collect data on plant equipment Constant
  • Requires performing duties in all weather conditions including heat, humidity, etc. Constant
  • Ability to work at heights and off platforms and scaffolding Frequent
  • Requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities Occasional
