Job Summary: 

The Staff Accountant will be responsible for day-to-day accounting activities related to inventory and railcar expenses for market operations. This includes month-end and quarter-end accounting close and reporting tasks related to coil and oil activity.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for accounting, reporting and analysis of fuel inventory activity on a monthly, quarterly, yearly basis.
  • Work closely with Commercial Operations team to properly manage fuel inventory within subledger system
  • Handle the settlement process of commodity and transportation activity for a given month
  • Complete monthly accounting close including journal entry preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Experience in a fast paced environment including ability and experience to meet firm deadlines including monthly close on a defined schedule.
  • Assist with special projects as requested.

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.  
  • Experience: Minimum 2-3 years related experience, preferably in an accounting role within a publicly traded company. Experience with Big 4 accounting firms is a plus.
  • Reporting: Will be creating monthly reports and sharing and/or collaborating with FP&A, Treasury, Tax and Risk.
