Job Summary:

The Senior Tax Analyst position reports to the Tax Manager and will primarily be responsible for preparation of federal, international, state & local tax return filings as well as preparation/review of quarterly and annual tax provision and tax basis analysis.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of NRG federal income tax returns, state corporate income and franchise tax returns, international tax forms
  • Preparation of apportionment methods and data for state filings and calculation of proper tax base for state franchise taxes
  • Calculation of estimated payments and filings, taxable income forecasts, tax allocation schedules and research of federal, state and international tax issues
  • Draft responses to state tax inquiries; draft responses to Notices of Proposed Adjustments
  • Calculate book-to-tax adjustments for the tax provision and reconcile related deferred tax balances for temporary differences
  • Analyzing & maintaining tax accounts, balances and related reconciliations
  • Significant experience with OneSource Tax Provision and OneSource Income Tax software
  • Support and implement process and technology improvement initiatives, including AI based solutions
  • Proactively develops and implements improved processes to minimize income tax risk and enhance internal controls
  • Analysis of changes to federal, state and international tax laws
  • Assists internal and external auditors with information requests and explanations as needed
  • Perform special projects and ad hoc analysis as requested

 

Working Conditions:

  • Open office environment
  • Hybrid work schedule: 4 days in office
  • Overtime required as special projects arise

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 4 years of corporate income tax experience (a combination of working in public accounting & corporate tax department)
  • Working knowledge of ASC 740 (SFAS109, APB23, FIN18, FIN48) and SOX404
  • Advanced Excel skills required (pivot tables, vlookup, hlookup formulas, etc.)
  • Experience with AI-based automation, tax research software, and document management technologies
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical skills
  • Communicates with clarity, both orally and in writing
  • Self-starter with ability to manage competing projects in time-constrained environment
  • Active learner - able to enhance personal, professional and business growth through new knowledge and experiences; pushes the organization to learn from other industries' standards and practices
  • Knowledge of Oracle HFM and SAP  

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or related discipline required
  • Masters in Tax and/or CPA
  • Experience with AI based Tax Solutions and software products like OneSource a plus

The base salary range for this position is $86,960-117,520* The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonus, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition the position may be eligible to participate in the benefits program which include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending accounts.
