Summary
A scheduler is responsible for executing and managing daily natural gas operations, including nominations, confirmations, and imbalance mitigation, to ensure accurate delivery of gas behind each LDC. This role partners closely with trading, wholesale, LDCs, and internal stakeholders to optimize transportation and storage assets while maintaining compliance with tariffs and balancing retail pools effectively. Additionally, the scheduler develops strong cross-functional relationships, leverages internal and external systems to execute transactions, and supports process improvement through automation, reporting, and technology collaboration.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Execute and manage nominations, confirmations, imbalances, and other similar activities related to the purchase and sale of natural gas behind various LDCs, including activity on LDC websites and NRG’s ETRM platforms
- Advise and assist the trading team regarding the optimal use of transportation and storage assets while balancing retail pools
- Gain a complete understanding of the operational and commercial aspects of LDC tariffs
- Become proficient in the use of internal and external systems for the timely execution of nominations across multiple EBBs.
- Develop/Maintain trusted partnerships with all parties in the supply chain including schedulers, traders, LDC reps and internal stakeholders
- Assist in the automation of scheduling processes
- Assist Technology teams with testing and application resolution
- Provide ad-hoc reporting where needed
Working Conditions:
- This position operates in a professional office environment, requiring regular use of computers and other office equipment.
- Weekend On-Call: On a rotational basis, remain on call on assigned weekends and holidays to provide scheduling and balancing services
- Periodically travel as business requires
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma with 2 or more years of gas scheduling experience or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Strong quantitative, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must have advanced computer system skills in Excel
- Must be comfortable with technology projects and initiatives and have aptitude to quickly learn new technical software
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple assignments with competing deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a field of finance, math, economics, computer science or business related field
- Two years or more of experience with natural gas scheduling or within the Energy and/or commodity-based industry
- Experience with ETRM systems
- Experience with time series statistical analysis
- Experience with data analysis, reporting, forecasting, and/or accounting

The base salary range for this position is: $68,000 - $112,200. The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonus, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition the position may be eligible to participate in the benefits program which include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending accounts.
