Position Summary: 

Director, FP&A Cash & Capital Allocation owns NRG’s enterprise reporting and forecasting of Free Cash Flow before Growth (FCFbG) and supports capital allocation decision making across the Company. This role leads a team of managers and analysts and plays a critical role in Finance 2030 initiatives, including forecasting process transformation, EPM systems upgrades, and AI enablement. 

 

The role partners closely with Corporate and Business Unit FP&A teams on recurring and adhoc reporting, forecasting, and the annual budget, and works with Investor Relations, Treasury, and Accounting to support earnings preparation, corporate financing decisions, and financial results analysis. Given its role in consolidating enterprise results, this position requires comfort operating in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines. 

 

This is a high impact, strategic role with significant exposure to Senior Management. 

 

Essential Responsibilities: 

  • Own enterprise FCFbG reporting and forecasting, including FCFbG per share and all underlying drivers such as cash interest, cash taxes, capital expenditures, working capital, and share count  
  • Lead recurring and ad-hoc reporting and forecasting processes, including monthly MAP reporting, quarterly forecasts, and the annual budget; deliver clear, actionable analysis and presentations for Senior Management and the Board of Directors 
  • Drive Finance 2030 initiatives, including streamlining forecasting processes, supporting EPM system implementations, and embedding AI into FP&A workflows  
  • Develop and mentor a high performing team, strengthening technical, financial, and leadership capabilities while fostering a culture of continuous improvement 
  • Enhance financial models to enable near real-time scenario and sensitivity analysis, including capital allocation and growth investment scenarios 
  • Oversee reporting and forecasting of Growth investments, including growth capex and related debt financing, and forecasting the enterprise balance sheet 
  • Support quarterly earnings and investor communications, including development of finance earnings materials, Reg G reporting related to FCFbG, and support for the 10Q, 10K, and press releases  
  • Partner closely with Corporate and Business Unit FP&A teams to deliver timely, accurate, and insightful analysis to Senior Management  
  • Own FP&A - Accounting cash flow governance, including reconciliation of GAAP cash flow to management and Reg G views, and resolution of complex working capital, capex, and financing items 
  • Collaborate with Treasury on financing activities (debt issuance, share repurchases, ratings agency materials) and with Accounting and M&A to understand financial results and support financial due diligence 

 

Required Skills & Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related business field 
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in finance‑related roles 
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing multi‑layered teams 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint, with experience integrating AI into workflows 
  • Proven ability to operate in a fast‑paced environment, manage competing priorities, and deliver highly accurate work under tight deadlines 
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision while collaborating effectively in a team‑oriented environment 
  • Strong cross‑functional partnering skills with the ability to resolve complex finance and accounting issues and drive process improvement 
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills with executive presence, given significant interaction with Senior Management 

 

Preferred Skills & Experience: 

  • Master’s degree in Finance or Business Administration (MBA), or a related field preferred. 
  • CFA or CPA preferred 

 

Working Conditions: 

  • Hybrid work schedule, Monday-Thursday in a professional open office environment office; working remotely on Friday 
  • Minimum overtime, but it may be necessary to complete special projects or meet deadlines  
  • Travel within the U.S. as required, approximately up to 15% of the time 

 

The base salary range for this position is: $174,640 - $288,120* *The base salary range above represents the low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonus, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition the position may be eligible to participate in the benefits program which include, but are not limited to, medical, vision, dental, 401K, and flexible spending accounts.
