Job Summary:

Assists in the repair and maintenance of equipment or machinery in the field, central shops, and mine sites.

Ability to support the mine site in compliance with all State and Federal rules and regulations.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Uses hand tools, power tools and precision measuring and testing instruments to repair and maintain, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical equipment, such as engines, motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment.
• Ensures new machines are prepared for operation following protocols and procedures and performs regular technical testing to ensure their safety and efficiency.
• Assist in tasks related to predictive/preventive maintenance technologies. Establish equipment baselines, historical databases, procedures, processes, routine testing cycles, and types of testing equipment.
• Assist in the maintenance of draglines, coal handling facilities, drills and other mine related equipment.
• Fundamental understanding of the properties of the various types of fuels, oils, greases and lubricants used to service equipment.
• Collects data on machine operation and suggests actions to reduce machine downtime.
• Perform related work as required.

Working Conditions:

• Regularly works in outside weather conditions and frequently works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet or humid conditions and vibration.
• Occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risks of electrical shock. Loud noise levels in the work environment.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School diploma, GED, or accreditation from a technical school or applicable skilled trade program.
• Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
• Valid Drivers' License; good driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Jewett Mine experience

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Ability to troubleshoot.
• Possess problem solving skills.
• Possess technical skills.

Physical Requirements (Demand and Frequency):

• Specific vision abilities required including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perceptiona dn the ability to adjust focus.
• Regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to stand, talk and hear.
• Frequently lift or move from 10 to 50 pounds unassisted; occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds with assistance.
