Job Summary:

Responsible for handling accounting oversite, metrics, and budgeting processes to facilitate accurate financial and performance planning and reporting of Technology operations.  While providing stewardship and governance over Technologies finances in adherence to NRG’s policies and procedures.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and report on assigned Technology functions budget and planning processes, including the annual operating plan and quarterly forecasts
  • Ensure all Technology capital and operating expenses finance processes meet and adhere to all NRG accounting and financial reporting requirements and policies
  • Assist and support resource and cost center managers in creating and maintaining required financial templates and documents for each planning cycle update, for both operating and capital expenses
  • Investigate and provide timely insights of variances between monthly, quarterly, and annual budgets and recorded spend, for assigned Technology functional areas
  • Perform timely budget uploads to SAP and the financial planning system after each planning cycle
  • Provide assistance with the financial governance processes to Technology Leadership and Management through timely monthly reporting, performance reviews, and dashboard updates
  • Assist in facilitating the annual review of the Technology assets
  • Provide backup support and team coverage while managing independent assignments
  • Help identify process improvements and best practices to enhance Technology and finance process effectiveness and efficiency
  • Other Duties as assigned

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience within Finance (FP&A for operating & capital expenses)
  • Applied accounting experience is required
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting, Business, or related discipline; or equivalent professional experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • CPA is preferred

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong capability, knowledge, and utilization of SAP
  • Strong capability and knowledge in learning online tools for planning and forecasting (such as FPR/HPM, custom tool, or processes)
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and Power BI
  • Proficient in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Reconciliation capability is required
  • Works well with team and in team environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated analytical capability with high attention to detail
  • Works well under pressure while remaining focused and calm
  • Ability to prioritize workload
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and to follow directions well
  • Ability to work with Technology Leadership, Management, and Business Partners

 

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid work segmentation – 1 days per week in office, 4 days per week remote
  • Willingness to work outside normal business hours as necessary, especially during critical issue resolution, year-end, and quarter-end to achieve budgeting milestones
