Purpose:

This position is responsible for the analysis, structuring and administration of the various risk management and insurance programs for the company;  Coordinate claims management and loss prevention programs to maintain maximum protection of assets at the most economical rates.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Analysis, structuring, development and understanding of property and casualty insurance programs and issues including operational and construction risks. 

  • Coordinate property and employee safety loss control efforts for the Company.  Act as Liaison with Safety Department on casualty programs.  Work with Plants and Engineering Department to coordinate and keep track of Company responses to property loss control engineering recommendations.

  • Obtain and maintain information necessary for completing complex insurance applications for all lines of coverage. Responsible for maintaining and updating various insurance-related databases and listings.

  • Analysis, structuring, development and understanding of alternative risk financing techniques, captive management, loss forecasting, retention analysis, allocation issues and techniques.

  • Review of corporate insurance policies to ensure that they contain the terms, conditions and endorsements that were negotiated at the renewal.  Maintain insurance policy documents by archiving (electronic or hard copy) and/or updating policies as necessary.

  • Work with Broker to issue required Certificates of Insurance, and maintain records of all Certificates that have been issued and received by the Corporation.

  • Preparation of budgets and forecasts.

  • Process invoices as received. Allocate premiums working closely with Accounting Department regarding insurance related expenses and allocations. 

  • Working understanding of Contract negotiation and risk transfer techniques.

  • Working understanding of corporate finance and accounting issues.

  • Working understanding of Legal principles and practices and related insurance issues.

  • Work with various corporate departments in compilation of information required for audits of the various lines of coverage.

  • Assist the Department in preparation of reports and filings for State regulators.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of five years insurance related experience. Risk Management & Insurance and / or Masters degree is beneficial.

  • Experience with the placement and claims of Property, Casualty and Executive Risk insurance is a plus. Insurance brokerage, underwriting, claims or corporate risk management experience is beneficial.

  • Strong written and verbal communication and customer service skills, including proficiency with interacting with all levels of the company and with outside vendors.

  • Demonstrated track record of successfully working on multiple projects and activities at one time. Must possess ability to work effectively under pressure, meet strict deadlines, and complete assignments with little oversight.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products.

  • Ability/experience working with insurance company Risk Management Information Systems (RMIS) preferred.

  • Industry designations such as CPCU, ARM, etc. are beneficial.

  • Experience in the energy/power industry and a positive attitude is a plus.
