Job Summary:

NRG Energy is actively seeking a Risk Analyst to join its Enterprise Risk and Governance team. The ideal candidate will collaborate with Risk Managers to create and revise policies, controls, and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) documents. This role also involves crafting executive committee presentations, dashboards, and illustrations to convey reporting metrics, as well as undertaking ad hoc projects as necessary. Additionally, the Analyst will engage with counterparts from various departments, including Compliance, Audit, Sales, Trading, Risk, Accounting, IT, Pricing, and Legal personnel.

 

The Enterprise Risk and Governance team plays a pivotal role within NRG's Risk Management group, operating under the purview of the company’s Chief Risk Officer.

 

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development of the NRG's Risk Policy.
  • Evaluate and enhance NRG's Risk control documents.
  • Aid in creating ERM documents to ensure clear and concise communication of risks and associated mitigations.
  • Proofread and edit documents, reports, and presentations for all organizational levels, including executive management.
  • Assist in communicating Risk-related information to internal stakeholders.

 

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid work schedule: 3 days on-site, 2 days remote.
  • Open office environment.
  • Minimal travel obligations. 

 

 Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3-5 years in Finance, Risk Management, Legal, or the Energy Industry.
  • Strong writing and effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Visio, and other database applications.
  • Robust proofreading and editing abilities to produce documents free of style-related and grammatical errors.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Enterprise Risk Management experience.
  • Technical Writer Certification.
  • Ability to comprehend and articulate complex information on specialized topics.
  • Advanced computer skills for creating, editing, and formatting diagrams, illustrations, and documents.

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of the energy industry.
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively prioritize tasks, multitask, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced environment with a keen attention to detail.
  • Skill in interacting appropriately with business and executive management levels.
  • Flexibility in work schedule to accommodate a variety of deadlines.

Physical Requirements:

  • Majority of work performed on a personal computer in a seated position
