Job Summary: 

The Senior Analyst must identify, lead, and support strategic and performance initiatives for NRG’s Energy Retail business. In this role, you will need to be highly analytical, strong problem solver and effective communicator. You must thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess a high level of intellectual curiosity, and focus on generating results. To support and drive financial and operational performance of NRG’s businesses, candidate will perform a diverse range of assignments, projects and activities related to financial planning, supply management and portfolio optimization. Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to challenge existing business practices, propose workable solutions and drive initiatives to completion. The Senior Analyst must develop skills and knowledge to effectively address and resolve issues across multiple functional groups including but not limited to Performance Management, Sales, Business development, Segment, Product Developments, Digital, Marketing, FP&A, amongst others.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Lead the collection of data for, and the calculation of, daily and monthly Retail P&L report package for senior leadership.

  • Actively support all business units to drive the effective selection, development, implementation, and integration of analytics and KPIs to optimize business activities and make meaningful business intelligence/reporting possible.

  • Propose strategic recommendations that will enhance business value and drive performance improvement related to financial and operational metrics – customer count, acquisition, retention, OPEX and EBITDA.

  • Constantly track load/supply variances to help identify and mitigate risk for the Retail portfolio.

  • Monitors key operational metrics that encompass the customers full lifecycle and responds as necessary to ensure consistently superior operational performance.

  • Analyze financial impact of trends and opportunities leveraging business metrics of success and risk such as NPV, IRR, and Payback Period.

  • Oversee development of reporting dashboards and identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Provide deep-dive analytical support for acquisition channels, including campaign performance measurement as well as agent/vendor performance metrics. Focus on enrollment performance optimization by analyzing current processes.

  • Work with various teams; providing data expertise and offering original perspectives to evaluate existing processes, products, and recommend efficient, cost-effective solutions which support business strategic initiatives.

  • Maintain all daily/weekly/monthly key performance indicator and financial analysis data/reports.

  • Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting processes as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Working Conditions:

  • Open office environment.

  • Some overtime required as special projects arise.

  • Minimal Travel.


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or closely related field.

  • 3+ years of experience in financial modeling, forecasting, data-driven analytics required.

  • Experience in the development of metrics, KPI’s and overall business intelligence architecture.

  • Proficiency with Excel, including pivot tables.

  • Comfort with ambiguity; ability to work with incomplete data or seemingly open-ended questions and translate into actionable analysis.

  • Must by detail oriented and highly organized.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree is preferred.

  • Power B.I. or Tableau proficiency.

  • VBA Macro programming Proficiency.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills and strong ability to summarize and communicate effectively to senior leadership.
