The Client Strategy Manager directly manages a team of 5 – 7 associate and client strategy analysts, who engage and manage our key client relationships across industries and sectors to drive business value through end-to-end delivery of commodity and non-commodity-based solutions.  This manager has a regional focus, and ensures the team is improving our clients' profitability and business productivity by creating value through procurement solutions, operating cost reduction and world class customer service.  

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
•    Manage performance of team of strategists responsible for NRGs most valued managed product clients:  up to 200 key customers 
•    Provide thought leadership, and seek out customer commodity and non-commodity strategy by working cross functionally to equip team to offer a variety of solutions, to meet specific client objectives within portfolio
•    Manage or participate in projects that will enhance the overall performance of the team, including process improvements, new product delivery, system enhancements, and other initiatives (including integration)
•    Travel (up to 25%) to regional and main NRG offices to establish working relationships with key Sales, Technical sales, and Wholesale Operations counterparts, as well as occasional travel to visit key clients
•    Work directly with Technical Sales, Sales, and marketing teams to drive new sales throughout all regions 
•    Interface with pricing, wholesale supply and trading, and Demand Management to ensure team is providing the appropriate pricing, products, and services (commodity and non-commodity) to our customers.  
•    Maintain a small book of critical managed product clients to remain abreast of client needs and issues
•    Onboard new strategists, and manage daily workload of strategists effectively, while ensuring career growth opportunities for team members

Working Conditions:

•    Open office environment.
•    Sensory attention:  Continual need to give concentrated attention where multiple stimuli are changing quickly and where 2 or more senses – hearing, seeing, touching, and tasking – must be used in coordination.
•    Mental stress:  Continuous occurrence of strong demand for results and multiple simultaneous demands requiring decisions
•    Travel – up to 25%

Minimum Requirements: 
•    Bachelor’s degree required in engineering, economics, mathematics, or specific energy market analysis-related experience preferred
•    Eight or more years related industry experience required
•    3 – 5 Years of people management experience, or commensurate demonstrated project leadership
•    Presentation proficiency and the ability to interact with highest levels of Leadership, both internally and externally
•    Ability to develop and implement highly effective market and business strategies
•    Skilled in business analysis and identifying market potential for significant business growth

 

Preferred Qualifications: 
•    Master’s degree in Business Management or related field preferred
•    The ability to guide a team to execute on a common goal
•    Excellent quantitative skills
•    Excellent oral and written communication skills
•    Good skills of persuasion and effectiveness at explaining rational for recommendations and decisions
•    Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
•    Strong organizational abilities, attention to detail and deadline orientation
•    Commitment to work with a sense of urgency
•    Be proactive and creative in solving problems
•    Exhibit a positive attitude to inspire the people around you
•    Holds Certified Energy Procurement Professional (CEP) or Certified Energy Management (CEM) Designation 


Physical Requirements:
•    Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is ample opportunity to move about
