Summer Internship Program

Our 10-week program is designed to increase future employment potential for prospects while providing a valuable resource to the business. This Summer Internship will appeal to proactive and self-motivated 4th year students with a genuine desire to learn about the energy business and industry. During the internship, candidates will work on real projects and have real responsibilities. We aim to help students build strengths, gain skills that can be transferred to any workplace, and stand out from the crowd.

 

Ideal Candidate

This Intern role will support the sponsorship strategy team for Reliant energy. We are looking for self-driven, high-caliber, creative, sports‑savvy Content Creator Intern to help bring our sponsorships to life across social, digital, and in‑venue channels. You’ll concept, capture, and edit short‑form content from live activations, support influencer collaborations, and package recaps that showcase community impact and brand lift.

This 10 week internship will provide a student exposure to sponsorship, brand strategy, community brand marketing, advertising, digital and web, data and marketing analytics and the full sponsorship content lifecycle—from run‑of‑show planning to real‑time capture to post‑event reporting

 

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Create short‑form video & photo content (Reels/TikTok/Stories) on‑site and same‑day for key sponsorship moments—capturing crowd energy, player/mascot interactions, and behind‑the‑scenes snippets that partners love to repost
  • Support hero events like the Reliant Home Run Derby with the Dallas Cowboys by producing “highlight sizzles,” quick‑turn social cuts, and post‑event recaps emphasizing funds raised and community impact.
  • Cover college athletics content (e.g., Texas Tech): game‑day activations, VIP fan moments, sweepstakes winners, and “day‑in‑the‑life” pieces aligned to lead‑gen and nurture journeys.
  • Assist with influencer content at select events (FWSSR, market activations): pre‑event briefs, day‑of capture, and asset delivery; help track performance vs. benchmarks.
  • Write and adapt copy (hooks, captions, lower‑thirds) that fits platform best‑practices and partner guidelines; help storyboard quick concepts for reels, LED/ribbon moments, and in‑venue prompts.
  • Package recaps & metrics (engagement, reach, saves, shares) with crisp visuals for internal and partner readouts; pull highlights from event metrics you’ll receive (e.g., impressions/engagements from Cowboys/creator posts
  • Guardrails & approvals: learn our legal/brand review flow and ensure content aligns with rules, usage rights, and disclosures (you’ll see how sponsorship emails and sweepstakes language are reviewed)
  • Bring “Smarter Together” to life by showing the all‑in‑one Reliant × Vivint experience in simple, human ways (household tips, energy‑insights snippets, creator POVs)
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

  • Must be based in the Houston area, with hybrid work in the Houston office
    • Open office environment (hybrid in office Mon, Tues, Wednesday, Thurs and other days as needed)
  • Must be willing to work evenings and weekends to support on-site activity at events as needed. (~20%). 
  • Must be able to lift minimum 40 lbs.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in marketing, communications, journalism, sports media, or related field.
  •  Portfolio or links showing short‑form video (shooting + editing) and social storytelling.
  •  
  • Must be going into your senior year or graduating in 2026 with a 3.0 GPA or higher 
  • Expected to take initiative and work well in a fast-pace environment with multiple departments, projects, and deadlines.

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of mobile‑first editing (e.g., CapCut, VN) and/or desktop tools (Premiere Pro, After Effects, Canva).
  • Comfortable working on‑site at events (evenings/weekends as needed) and collaborating with partners/ambassadors.
  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail, including brand voice and required disclosures.
