We are building a modern, best-in-class communications function that is fast, data-driven, and operationally excellent. The Communications Specialist will support NRG’s Commercial Communications team, which manages corporate communications for the company’s business units—including Generation, Consumer, and B2B Sales. This role is a communications generalist with a primary focus on internal communications and operations, while also serving as a utility player for broader team needs, including external communications support, media tracking, and reporting. 

 

The ideal candidate is a strong writer, highly organized, and comfortable working across multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Internal Communications (Primary Focus) 

 

  • Develop and distribute employee communications (emails, intranet posts, newsletters)  
  • Support leadership messaging, including town halls and business updates. 
  • Maintain editorial calendars and ensure timely delivery of content. 
  • Assist the team with support of reporting, presentations, and team management. 

External Communications Support 

  • Assist with drafting press releases and managing media lists for commercial initiatives. 
  • Monitor media coverage and compile reports for leadership. 

Tracking & Reporting 

 

  • Track internal engagement metrics and external media performance. 
  • Prepare dashboards and summaries for leadership review. 

Generalist/Utility Support 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure message alignment across Generation, Consumer, and B2B Sales. 
  • Assist with special projects and campaigns as needed. 

 

Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field. 
  • 2–4 years of experience in corporate communications or PR. 
  • Strong writing and editing skills; ability to tailor tone for different audiences. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools (Word, PowerPoint, Teams, SharePoint). 
  • Familiarity with media monitoring tools and basic analytics.
