The Associate Client Strategist supports the management of key client relationships across various industries to help deliver commodity and non‑commodity energy solutions within the NRG Business managed product suite. This role works alongside senior team members to assist in developing customer strategies, supporting procurement activities, and ensuring high‑quality customer service. The Associate Client Strategist contributes to customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and overall value creation for our clients.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

• Support the management of client relationships for assigned accounts, typically fewer and/or smaller in scope than senior strategists.
• Assist in providing high‑quality customer service that supports client retention and renewal; contribute to renewal efforts with senior oversight.
• Help analyze customer needs related to commodity and non‑commodity energy solutions and support the development of recommended strategies.
• Assist with reporting, benchmarking, and tracking customer performance indicators; help interpret results for internal and client use.
• Participate in customer meetings and occasional site visits (up to 10–15% travel) to support senior strategists with presentations and strategy discussions.
• Collaborate with Technical Sales, National Sales, Direct and Indirect Sales teams to support new business opportunities as needed.
• Coordinate with pricing, wholesale supply, and trading teams to gather market information and support transparent pricing activities.
• Work with Demand Management and renewable services teams to support the delivery of non‑commodity solutions.
• Learn and apply foundational risk management concepts such as load forecasting and basic market analysis under guidance from senior strategists.

• Travel: Up to 10–15%.

 

Minimum Requirements:

• Proficiency with computer spreadsheet and database applications.
• Bachelor’s degree required

• One year (or internship/co-op equivalent) of related business, energy, or analytical experience preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and willingness to learn energy market concepts.
• Basic presentation skills and ability to communicate with internal stakeholders and external clients.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and support the execution of customer-facing strategies.
• Demonstrated interest in market analysis, business operations, or client management.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in the energy industry or a related analytical/business field.
• Strong quantitative and problem‑solving skills.
• Solid communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work with a sense of urgency and adapt to shifting priorities.
• Demonstrated initiative, creativity in problem-solving, and a positive team‑oriented attitude.

 

Physical Requirements:

• Primarily sedentary role with most time spent seated; occasional ability to move about the office.
