Job Summary

This position has functional responsibilities directly related to the shop. This position is responsible for providing effective quoting, planning, and procuring of materials and resources required to maintain, upgrade, and repair power plant related mechanical equipment.

 

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities

  • Coordinates, plans, and schedules shop repair work and resources needed to ensure its timely return to service
  • Works with Engineering, Supervisors, Dept. Heads, and Suppliers to create traveler packets that complete work from quote to delivery
  • Ensures that ALL maintenance work is planned and Job Packages include (time estimates, skills requirements, materials, drawings, Safety Information, procedures, specifications, etc.)
  • Facilitates job package library, including enhancing packages with feedback from crews and supervisors
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable QA/QC requirements
  • Ensures the NRG maintenance process and work management principles and practices are integrated into work packets and followed
  • Participates in development, implementation and maintenance of policies, objectives, short and long-range planning
  • Implements effective problem-solving analysis while maintaining collaborative working relationships with all employees
  • Establishes the highest standards of business conduct, discipline, and ethical behavior to ensure continuing compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and how to incorporate them into work management including, LOTO, hot work, and barricades
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot technical problems related to materials or products
  • Expert knowledge of work management processes
  • Strong CMMS knowledge in work management and procurement processes (SAP preferred)
  • Solid ability to write and organize technical work packages
  • Experience in contractor management and control, including job scopes, site training, notification letters, and site contacts
  • Preventive Maintenance (PM) program knowledge and ability to utilize a CMMS to manage the PM program (SAP preferred)
  • Knowledge of work scheduling processes and tools and their integration with work planning (PaSTA preferred)
  • General purchasing process experience - including items like vendor contacts, services, and capabilities
  • General knowledge of budgeting processes and its integration with work management (PowerSAM knowledge preferred – this is a specific NRG tool)
  • Ability to create and update Intelex tasks, including legal requirements and permits (this is a specific NRG tool)
  • Escalate vendor issues to supply chain and relay performance information to ensure we are receiving the required level of support
  • Develop schedules for all maintenance outages and discovery works
  • Develops, maintains, and updates work packages, job plans, PMs and maintenance procedures
  • Ensure good receipts are properly administered
  • Expense reports for shop related items are properly allocated in a timely manner
  • Expert knowledge in MS Office, Primavera, PaSTA, or related systems
  • Ability to initiate work orders for the shop and request for 3rd party PO’s
  • Gather and update production schedules and address cost variances in a timely manner
  • Clear communication skills to relay product status directly to plants

 

Working Conditions

  • Machine Shop Environment, including working at heights, high/low ambient temperatures and high noise
  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering shop work areas to access, inspect, or collect data on equipment
  • Personal Protective Equipment (hearing protection, Safety Glasses, Gloves, Steel Toes, and proper shop attire, etc.)
  • Working around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials/chemicals, overhead equipment
  • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities
  • Works overtime to include weekends and holidays as required to support outages
  • Requires valid license to operate a motor vehicle
  • Requires occasional travel

 

 

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma required
  • 10+ years of materials experience or equivalent

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • SAP Expert
  • Industrial Engineering background strongly preferred
