Job Summary:
The Director, Talent Business Partners, is responsible for leading and supporting the Consumer Smart Home Business Partner team in driving Talent & Culture initiatives that enable business performance. This role partners closely with business leaders to implement talent strategies, programs, and policies that align with organizational goals. The Director will provide hands-on guidance to business leaders, oversee the delivery of HR programs, and ensure compliance with employment laws and internal policies.

 

This role requires strong business acumen, leadership, and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to balance strategic direction with day-to-day execution.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with senior leadership to understand business priorities and deliver aligned Talent & Culture solutions.
  • Lead and develop a team of Business Partners supporting the Consumer Smart Home organization; provide coaching, feedback, and professional development.
  • Translate broader HR strategies into practical, actionable plans for the Consumer business.
  • Guide leaders through workforce planning, organizational design, and talent development discussions.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to management on employee relations, performance management, and engagement initiatives.
  • Support recruiting efforts by collaborating on job design, compensation recommendations, and onboarding processes.
  • Partner with HR Centers of Excellence such as Benefits, HR Operations, and Learning & Development teams to deliver consistent and effective support to the business.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with employment laws and company policies; provide education and training where needed.
  • Support change management efforts by helping leaders communicate and implement organizational initiatives.
  • Analyze HR data and metrics to identify trends, assess risks, and recommend solutions.
  • Promote manager and employee self-service, ensuring users are equipped to access HR tools and resources effectively.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to improve HR processes, tools, and systems.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive culture and reinforce company values through all people practices.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in Human Resources, with at least 3 years in a management or HR Business Partner leadership capacity.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting multiple HR disciplines (e.g., talent management, employee relations, compensation, organizational development).
  • Proven experience managing and developing a team of HR professionals.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or related field preferred.
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, or similar certification preferred.
  • Experience supporting clients in fast-paced, growth-oriented industries (e.g., energy, technology, or consumer sectors).

  • Knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

 

Working Conditions:

  • Hybrid work schedule (4 days in office, 1 day remote).
  • Some travel required between company locations (Houston, TX – Salt Lake City, UT – Princeton, NJ).
  • Ability to work in an open office environment and manage multiple concurrent priorities.
