Summary:    Performs significant responsibilities related to budgeting and financial accounting analysis, investigation, and reporting.  <span 72="">This position supports procurement and/or accounts payable processes and may interface with vendors and contractors.   Also responsible for general office management such as inventory, reporting, and customer service functions; and administrative support to office personnel as needed. 

 

 Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Overall Responsibility for facilities management, including investigating and purchasing office supplies and equipment (including telecommunications, IT equipment and services, etc.). 
  • Maintains Facility accounting records in a manner consistent with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), in support of Owner needs and in accordance with Owner, regulatory, and NRG policies and procedures. Prepare journal entries and coordinate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end accruals and closing requirements.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of accounting records, preparation of financial reports, and development and usage of statistical and accounting information.
  • Provide both ad hoc and routine reporting in support of Owner and internal requirements.
  • Appraise operating results in terms of costs, budgets, trends, and earnings.
  • Vendor Relationship Management – Work with facility personnel, NRG Supply Chain and certain vendors to ensure services are priced at a value and delivered in accordance with specifications.  Includes obtaining quotes and working with a wide variety of vendors; management of approved and qualified vendors including system documentation and involved in coordinating RFQ information to vendors and obtaining quotes.  May be responsible for selection of vendor in some cases. Utilize SAP system to manage work orders and purchase orders.  May be assigned as facility Field Buyer.
  • Inventory Management - Inventory is properly secured, identified, and reported and that inventory is procured in accordance with Owner and company policy.
  • Satisfactorily learn and demonstrate proficiency in computer software as needed by the company including learning system processes and report generation to facilitate needs from the system of other employees.  Includes assisting with various input and managing the workflow through of system activity.
  • Stays well-informed of daily operations and analyzes variance of actual costs vs. budget. Performs economic analyses of projects and provides business recommendations.
  • Communicates regularly and effectively with Owner, Management, and all site personnel to prepare site operating budget and update monthly forecasts. Support the development of technical, leadership, and business skills of employees to carry out responsibilities in a competitive environment.
  • Provides accounting advice and counsel to the Plant Manager. Responsible as the Point-of-contact for accounting, tax, and SOX audits.
  • Support all Operations activities through collection and analysis of information and the dissemination of intelligence on financial and operational Plant Performance; perform detailed analysis and prepare comprehensive reports to support all business functions. 
  • Utilize multiple data sources to collect, analyze, consolidate, and provide timely, accurate, presentation of all types of mission-critical business metrics, trends, and patterns within plant operations, including plant performance (availability and reliability), safety, and financials (Capex, O&M, and G&A). Utilize data sources appropriately for specific ad hoc assignments. Effectively convert data to meaningful information for executives.  Utilize SAP system to manage work orders and purchase orders.
  • Support and participate in NRG’s safety programs.

  • Ability to manage vendor and customer relationships including contract management process and contract negotiations preferred.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English - Strong knowledge of English grammar.
  • Ability to use a personal computer and associated software applications. Has understanding of our business software systems and their interfaces. Working knowledge of the following systems: SAP, JDE, and Outlook Soft. Must be proficient in Excel and PowerPoint

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related technical field AND  4 years related business experience, or
  • Associate’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or related technical field  and 6 years relevant business experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in a power plant or other industrial setting
  • Experience utilizing SAP
  • Microsoft Applications

Working Conditions

  • Normal office and power plant environment.
  • Work is performed in an administration office environment located within a power plant.
  • Work overtime and non-standard working hours as needed.
  • Requires occasional business travel outside the normal service area.
  • Requires operation of a personal computer.
  • Occasionally requires wearing personal protective equipment (safety glasses, hard hat, etc.).
  • Occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities.
  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment
