Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Include, but are not limited to the following:
- Collaborates with Energy Services Plants around technical issues
- Assures all technical processes, procedures are thoroughly communicated and understood for flawless execution
- Liaises with plant operations staff to ensure highest level of technical standards are employed within the daily operation
- Coordinates with NRG support staffs (engineering, supply chain, business ops, asset management, etc.) to best deliver repair solutions and timing
- Collaborates with Technical Services to ensures appropriate technical resources are engaged to best support plant performance, repairs, modifications, etc.
- Develops relationships with key Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM’s) for optimum support and execution
- Develops, retains, and standardizes technical documentation and reporting to customers
- Develops and implements a periodic review process for continuous improvement
- Provides leadership to and sponsors safety and environment over production programs
- Works with the Energy Services fleet to ensure regulatory compliance
- Reviews technical gaps and issues hindering performance with customers/clients and identifies opportunities for improvement in the short/long term
- Recognizes problems proactively and collaborates with plants to resolve them
- Ensures work performed by external service providers is technically sound in approach and supports the highest of quality standards in its execution
- Provides leadership, support, and coordination of long-term maintenance work consistent with the requirements of ESG Maintenance Services and NRG Plant Operations.
Requirements
Education/Experience
- Possess at least 15 years of experience in a related technical field or Baccalaureate degree in Engineering or related discipline from an accredited college or university
- Should have experience within power plants and be familiar with major equipment such as gas and steam turbines, boilers and HRSG’s, generators and transformers, etc.
Knowledge/Skills
- Knowledge of power plant systems and operations, and comprehensive knowledge in the area of responsibility
- Demonstrated effective leadership and personnel management skills
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a team environment
- Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) at all levels of NRG Energy including briefing management
- Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all individuals
- Ability to use a personal computer and standard business software
- Knowledge of and ability to understand Excel spreadsheet financial models
- Ability to read, create and follow written policies and procedures
- Ability to read, write and understand English
- Ability to understand and use work management systems
- Knowledge of standard contract terms and structures and ability to read and understand a long term maintenance agreement
- Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations
- Ability to track and maintain progress against a budget

Working Conditions
- Normal office environment and/or power plant environment
- Requires operation of a motor vehicle and a valid driver’s license
- Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment
- Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required
- Requires travel within the USA, and potentially international travel
- Occasionally requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
- May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals
- Requires operation of a personal computer
- Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities
Please Note: Salary offered will be commensurate with the successful candidate’s education and/or experience and consistent with the job location’s market pay rate.
