  • Monitor and enforce safe work practices as they relate to wind plants and wind turbine repairs and maintenance.
  • First line supervisor responsibilities for technicians.
  • Plan and issue work schedules to ensure the continual safe and efficient operations of the wind turbines.
  • Monitor and report on manufacture and third party wind turbine maintenance and repair efforts.
  • Supervise/conduct/assist in trouble shooting and repairs of wind turbine electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Inspect completed repairs and scheduled maintenance for quality assurance.
  • Responsible for specifying and ordering mobile equipment and cranes as needed for wind turbine repairs.
  • Primary responsibility for turbine availability.
  • Monitor wind conditions to maximize revenue and minimize downtime during repairs and maintenance.
  • Participate in contract negotiations with sub-contractors and other vendors for parts and services required for wind turbines.
  • Responsible for manuals, updates, and work instructions and technical wind turbine data.
  • Work with other team members to establish goals, action plans and strategies.
  • Develop standard work procedures.
  • Assist as required in facility maintenance and repairs.




  • 4 year degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 + years wind turbine repair and maintenance.
  • In depth knowledge wind turbine systems to include electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and SCADA.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain wind turbines at a high availability factor.
  • Proficiency in using MS Office software to include spread sheet and document applications.
  • Reside in immediate vicinity of wind farm installation to reduce call-out response time.


Physical Requirements:


•    Able to safely handle and work with objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance and up to 100 pounds with assistance.

•    Able to report to the work site without transportation assistance.

•    Ability to climb towers unassisted up to 300 feet. Job will require standing outside the nacelle and nosecone at the top of the turbine.

•    Able to work with electrical wires and differentiate between color coded wires.

•    Able to safely work in a wide range of adverse climates and environments.

•    Able to travel as required.

•    Able to work safely in a confined space.

•    Able to meet requirements of NRG’s Qualified Electrical Worker program.
