Job Summary: 

This individual will manage the plant’s stores, inventory control activities and warehousing.  A SAP software-based parts, purchasing and inventory control system is utilized.



Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Manage all material deliveries and shipments.
  • Maintain inventory system with regards to receivables/parts issuance in accordance with established station and supply chain procedures.
  • When needed, commute to local supply houses as requested to pick up parts and equipment needed on an emergency basis.
  • Maintain and organize the storeroom including the storage of spare parts and consumables, receipt and issuance of material and inventory control procedures to account for all material.
  • Acknowledge receipt of shipments, record in inventory, notify supervisors, and handle SAP invoice receipts.
  • Document and make all necessary arrangements to ship out material or equipment for repair, replacement, etc.
  • Responsible to their immediate supervisor to ensure that they comply with the NRG Safety and Environmental Policies and Procedures. Ensure all reasonable precautions to prevent incidents of noncompliance by themselves or on the part of others.  They shall further be responsible to immediately report to their supervisor any known or suspected violations of these policies or any situation they suspect could lead to a violation.
  • Maintain all spare and consumable parts storage areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Responsible to maintain confidentiality of all information available to the position.
  • Perform all duties and responsibilities assigned by the immediate supervisor to this position, but not specifically stated in this description.
  • During scheduled work hours, the Materials Analyst will have the following responsibilities at a minimum daily responsibilities will include but not limited to:
    • Attend Morning Meeting and check in with your supervisor.
    • Review any deliveries from overnight and report to the Warehouse.
    • Receive items in SAP (maintain all documentation; receive and store stocked items; and, notify supervisors of non-stock items received from previous requisitions).
    • Operate forklift and other material handling equipment.
    • Maintain documents associated with goods receipts.
    • Perform invoice receipts of approved invoices.
    • Clean/maintain Warehouse and organize associated areas.
    • Before going home gather receivables and check in with your supervisor.



Working Conditions:

Power Plant Environment-Work both inside and outside in all temperatures and climate conditions in accordance with Heat Stress procedures. Work around large rotating equipment, energized electrical equipment in high noise areas, and/or in confined places, on elevations in excess of 250 feet, or from platforms at heights of 5 feet or greater. Climb stairways, ladders, and work from aerial devices.



Minimum Requirements:


  • High School Diploma or GED  equivalent
  • Formal training on computers or 1 year of equivalent industrial experience
  • Must receive a rating of “recommended” on the NRG Energy Pre-Employment Skills Assessment
  • Must have a valid state driver’s license



Preferred Qualifications:


  • 3 years of experience in an industrial warehouse role
  • Knowledge of SAP



Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Good, legible handwriting.
  • Typing skills desirable.
  • A good understanding of industrial equipment, spare parts and consumables.
  • Ability to operate a computer terminal
  • Ability to personally respond to plant emergencies.
  • Ability to accomplish work with little or no supervision.


Physical Requirements:


  • Must be physically capable of climbing stairs and ladders.
  • Must be physically capable of lifting 50 lbs. of weight.
  • Must be physically capable to work overtime or rotating hours, as needed.
  • Must be physically capable to hear and understand audible alarms; detect changes in noise levels of rotating equipment, and portable radio communication.
  • Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
