The Performance Engineer will be responsible for analyzing, reporting, and the continuous improvement of the Renew Asset Optimization Performance Engineering Team and Systems.  This role will be responsible for utilizing data from generating assets to identify key performance and reliability metrics. 


  • Analyze OEM specific reliability analysis for critical components and systems for Distributed Generation Solar, utility scale Solar, and utility scale Wind Assets
  • Maintain and develop internal solar and wind energy models and reporting functions
  • Maintaining, developing, and improving current analytical models for utility wind and utility solar assets.
  • Implement, analyze and improve the unit energy forecasting system
  • Produce various periodic performance reports for asset management and site operations
  • Calculate and report on key power plant metrics to determine the overall health and performance of the assets
  • Perform periodic performance tests on solar, distributed generation, and wind generating units as well as balance of plant equipment.
  • Validate and improve accuracy of lost energy calculations including but not limited to energy losses due to curtailment, reactive power, equipment failure, etc.
  • Develop alarming tools to be utilized by Real-Time in PI Asset Framework
  • Develop analysis in PI Asset Framework


Education & Experience:

  • BS degree in engineering or physical sciences discipline required
  • MS degree in engineering or physical sciences discipline preferred
  • 1 year of industry experience or relevant schoolwork is required
  • 2 years of industry experience or relevant schoolwork is preferred
  • Understanding of Renewable Asset Design
  • SQL proficiency required
  • Understanding of Database Architectures
  • Understanding of PV System modeling, design, and function
  • Understanding basic wind turbine energy modeling, design, and function


Knowledge & Skills:

  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities and ensure safety, quality and schedule adherence
  • Ability to take direction, identify problems, develop solutions, conduct analysis independently and in collaboration with others
  • Ability to read and write technical documentation and the ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences
  • Ability to work in difficult customer situations and communicate clearly and accurately via verbal and written methods
  • Ability to work in a high stress environment where decisions directly impact personnel safety and equipment reliability
  • Ability to act as project lead managing internal and external support
  • Must be motivated to work in a data rich environment
