Responsibilities:

 

P&L Management:

 

  • Manage the P&L and cash position for all generating assets within assigned portfolio
  • Review monthly operational performance and financial variance reports. Investigate and remedy any variances to budget
  • Review gross margin performance and work with energy management group to explain variances due to market conditions and to develop strategies to maximize value
  • Monitor operational performance weekly/monthly by reviewing O&M and other plant performance reports
  • Investigate any major plant outages and influence resolution or minimization of outages
  • Develop annual project budgets and update monthly accrual and cash forecasts
  • Perform financial analyses, project evaluations, and due diligence to make recommendations in support of plant optimization, performance improvement, warranty claims, and revenue recovery
  • Initiate and/or support major projects, divestitures, and/or capital investment and revenue enhancement proposals
  • Negotiate and/or amend project company agreements as needed 
  • Update financial models on an ad-hoc as well as quarterly basis

 

Project Company Administration, Compliance, & Reporting:

 

  • Ensure that asset/land owner obligations and interests are successfully administered under the asset’s project and financing agreements and that general business-related license, permit and regulatory requirements, reporting and transactions with regional authorities, banks, tax assessors, governing and other external parties are successfully managed
  • Ensure compliance with project partnership agreements, serve on project boards, and coordinate regular board meetings
  • Assist in negotiations with PUCs, ISOs, city, county and state authorities and governing boards. 
  • Prepare monthly lost output and guaranteed energy production reports per applicable PPA requirements
  • Monitor and administer renewable energy credit (REC) obligations under various PPA contracts
  • Coordinate with debt compliance to prepare monthly and quarterly lender reports per requirements of financing agreements
  • Report to project partners (lenders, tax equity, yieldco, cash equity) on weekly/monthly/quarterly basis as required
  • Prepare quarterly/annual regulatory filings as required (CEC, EIA, etc.)
  • Respond to intra-company requests for information
  • Maintain the integrity and accuracy of contract compliance tracking systems by reviewing and summarizing deliverables of contracts and other project documents.

 

Project Integration:

 

  • Support the development of information sharing platforms and work management systems, including populating such systems with historical records and archiving of documents.
  • Interface with business development, project finance, and construction management groups to ensure the smooth transition of projects into commercial operation
  • Identify, design and implement improvements to asset management and project handover processes

 

Community & Project Stakeholder Engagement:

 

  • Foster positive relationships with long-term customers, partners or joint asset owners, ISO’s, and regulatory agencies
  • Identify and make project-related charitable giving to foster project and community goodwill.

 

Due Diligence in support of M&A and Project Investments:

 

  • Perform project evaluations, project agreement reviews, and due diligence to make recommendations in support of acquisitions, divestitures, and/or investments in company developed projects including repowerings.

 


Qualifications:

 

  • 5+ years of energy industry experience in a project development, project administration, business administration, project management, asset management, contract administration, deal execution, project finance or other commercial role
  • Strong business and financial savvy with the ability to support a high-performance organization that will deliver operational excellence and meet or exceed financial targets
  • Excellent written and verbal and communication skills and an ability to communicate complex issues in a clear, concise manner
  • An ability to perform at a high level in a matrixed organization, working in and leading cross-functional teams to achieve objectives
  • Ability to think creatively, manage competing priorities, work independently, and pay attention to detail
  • Ability to occasionally work extended hours to meet project deadlines
  • Ability to occasionally travel overnight to company or project locations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Bachelor’s in Engineering, Finance, Business, Economics or related field. 

 

Highly Desirable:

 

  • Renewable energy industry experience in solar or wind
  • MBA
  • Proficiency with VBA in Microsoft Excel
