NRG Renewables is looking for an Associate to join its Asset Management team. This position will support project financial evaluations and project model updates and will work closely with the Renewables Asset Management team. The right candidate will be organized, able to manage multiple priorities, a good communicator, logical, detail-oriented, collaborative and confident.  This position will report to the Vice President of Renewables Asset Management and will be located in our Scottsdale, AZ office.

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Manage and update financial models of operating projects, portfolios, tax-equity funds and debt funds
  • Prepare valuation models for asset sales
  • Support any scenario modeling for contract amendment negotiations
  • Support Tax Equity Compliance on any heavy modeling needs
  • Run scenarios using existing project model and/or self-created models to support negotiations and ensure decision-making is being informed by thorough analysis
  • Update and maintain fully structured (tax equity, debt and cash equity) internal financial model with most recent project and corporate assumptions
  • Represent Asset Management department at project team meetings to communicate operating financial model requirements
  • Coordinate with many different departments internally to update structured financial models
  • Assist in building models, tools, process and infrastructure that supports the organization's accuracy, efficiency and scalability
  • Develop and foster relationships with various departments while continually seeking opportunities to improve processes
  • Support any strategic initiatives within Renewables Asset Management and help with preparing presentations for Sr. Management

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics or related field.  Degree in Engineering, Math, Science, or other quantitative field with business or finance experience also potentially suitable
  • 5+ years of energy or infrastructure industry experience in a project finance or fund administration role
  • Project Finance modeling experience
  • Excellent written and verbal and communication skills and an ability to communicate complex issues in a clear, concise manner
  • Expert with MS Excel, and highly skilled with other MS Office products including PowerPoint, Word and MS Project
  • An ability to perform in a matrixed organization, working in inter-departmental teams to achieve objectives
  • Diligent, detailed oriented, and creative
  • Ability to prioritize many competing deadlines

 

Highly Desired:

  • Renewable energy industry experience, preferably distributed or utility-scale solar
  • Experience assisting in the closing of tax equity and/or energy project finance transactions
  • Experience writing and/or using VBA in Excel
  • MBA, advanced Finance degree, or equivalent experience
