Responsibilities:

 

Originate, structure, and drive towards close power offtake contracts with C&I customers

 

  • Identify new origination prospects, propose outreach strategy for all products and technologies under development, including key customer messaging
  • Work with Inside Sales and Lead Generation teams in the development of the ideal customer profile and customer contact lists
  • Actively manage and build relationships with existing and new customers in the corporate market segments
  • Secure long term power sale agreements with corporations and utilities to support the financing and build out of new renewable energy projects.
  • Act as the primary Point of Contact (POC) for the customer across all products from customer origination activities through construction

 

Lead the internal support teams though all aspects of the complex sales process through to closing.

 

  • Evaluate requests for bids, lead bid preparation, prepare competitive analysis and manage participation in procurement processes.
  • Facilitate customer outreach plan and positioning to the market, including ITC, PTC strategy, market penetration strategy, analysis of markets, financing, etc.
  • Conduct research into customers’ businesses and energy procurement activities and develop initial ideas for NRG offerings.
  • Assist with pricing and proposal strategies to customers
  • Prepare proposals and presentation materials for customers and buyers.
  • Maintain customer records in Salesforce.com

 

Participate in market outreach and strategy

 

  • Participate in energy working groups, professional organizations, trade shows & conferences
  • Seek opportunities and deal structures that allow for bilateral transactions with customers.
  • Remain abreast of renewable energy opportunities in the United States and the national industry trends impacting the future of wind and renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers.
  • Anticipate major procurement events and industry news, including RFPs and integrated resource plans, keeping the team informed as well as synthesizing content and suggesting potential offerings.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Proven record of accomplishment in renewable origination.
  • Deep network of corporate industry contacts and brokers across the United States.
  • Track record of securing long term power sale agreements on renewable energy projects with corporations and utilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to structure, negotiate, and execute power sale agreements together with internal and external advisors.
  • Ability to prepare marketing materials, presentations and proposal materials needed to pitch origination opportunities to customers.
  • Proven ability to navigate the various aspects of renewable power origination with corporates and utilities and the organizations from which they seek guidance and procurement services.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail
  • Highly motivated self-starter, friendly personality, and good team player
  • Strong aptitude for analytical and financial modeling with demonstrated attention to detail
  • Working understanding of the energy industry including regulated and de-regulated electricity markets and project financing structures and key value drivers
  • Effective organizational skills including the ability to independently prioritize and manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Strong desire to advance the adoption and deployment of renewable energy solutions across North America.

 

Education/Experience:

 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in power origination; preferably in solar or renewable power origination.
  • A Bachelor's Degree with strong academic record from a leading undergraduate program, ideally in finance, accounting, business administration, economics or engineering
  • Prior experience in RFP response processes, proposal creation and/or knowledge management.
  • Strong attention to detail and inclination towards structure, organization, and process – as well as the ability to examine, question, and improve on the inputs and recommendations of others.
  • Capacity and willingness to perform job duties under time pressure from external and internal deadlines.
  • Proven organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent efforts, track progress and needs of each, and provide high quality deliverables accurately and on time
  • Able to work well with geographically dispersed, cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office Suite, with emphasis on Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel.

 

Working Conditions:

 

Approximately 60-70% of the time is spent in the office environment, utilizing computers (frequent use of MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook, Access, PowerPoint, Publisher and Adobe etc.), telephones, and general office equipment. Up to 30-40% of the time is spent onsite with clients, partners, counterparties and trade shows creating and executing on business opportunities. Fulfills all delegated tasks, many of which may be loosely associated with the primary assignment of the job description.
