Job Summary: 

 

  • Staff Accountant reporting to a Senior Manager within the Accounting organization. Staff Accountant will be responsible for all aspects of accounting and settlements around a specific set of fuel types.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for accounting, reporting and analysis for retail gas transactions.
  • Complete monthly accounting close including journal entry preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Conduct initial analysis of financial results and understanding of variances.
  • Support FP&A and Commercial Operations with as-needed analysis.
  • Assist settlement and tie-out process, including invoicing and issue resolution, with various counterparties for retail transactions.
  • Work closely with Commercial Operations and Plant Operations to understand various operational issues and related accounting implications.
  • Provide back up to coal, oil and emissions accountants
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders on various regulatory filings.
  • Create process documentation and training materials as needed.
  • Cross-train to support multiple plant locations and various processes.
  • Comply with Sarbanes Oxley Sec. 404 legislation as it relates to the work processes for Aligne Fuels and Epsilon systems.
  • Assist with special projects as requested

Working Conditions:

 

  • Open office environment.
  • Limited travel (>5% off the time)

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 2-3 years of experience in general financial accounting and reporting.
  • Ability to communicate with all levels of internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work independently in team oriented culture in a fast paced environment.
  • Experience with SAP preferred.
  • Experience with HFM preferred.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
