  • Assist in the preparation of the quarter end close presentation for the controllers review meeting.
  • Provide support in developing key operating statistic reports for the East Region, by creating monthly, quarterly and YTD reports using NRG’s financial systems.
  • Working with the East Region settlements team to gain wholesale settlement audit experience and learn how to reconcile the third party settlement statement to the general ledger.
  • Assist in the monthly plant operational variance analysis under the direction of the East accounting managers comparing actuals to the budget/forecast runs.
  • Assist in the coordination of the budget/forecast input process, data mining using NRG’s key financial systems, including Hyperion Financial/Planning Management and SAP preparing ad hoc analysis for the regional president as needed.


  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in accounting. 
  • Interest in the energy industry.
  • Understanding of financial accounting and basic IT controls.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills; ability to “think outside of the box.”
  • Excellent communication skills; including strong oral and writing skills, and the ability to effectively listen.
  • Competency in use of MS Office particularly Excel and Word; PowerPoint a plus
  • Demonstrated attention to detail.
  • 3.0 GPA overall and within major (preferred)
  • Junior accounting student entering Senior Year (preferred)
