Support Plant Operations training programs and utilize the University NRG Learning Management System (LMS) to schedule, deliver, and track training.  Develop Plant Operations training materials (CBT and ILT) using the Systematic Approach to training.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Identifies skill or knowledge gaps among the organizations employee population
  • Develops effective training content (both CBT and ILT) in response to identified training needs
  • Selects training tools or training delivery mechanisms, based on the material being taught and the audience being targeted
  • Creates and maintains course content, manuals, or other training materials.
  • Coordinates guest trainers or subject matter experts (SMEs)
  • Assesses the impact of training programs by measuring employee understanding of the subject matter
  • Supports and emphasizes the importance of safety and environmental programs and ensure regulatory compliance
  • Initiates/participates in continuous improvement planning and implementation in assigned area of responsibility
  • Provides technical guidance as needed
  • Ensures the compatibility of deliverables from vendors
  • Develops course content with assistance from Subject Matter Experts (SMEs)
  • Reviews and updates training material on a frequent basis
  • Collaborates with other groups to promote training programs
  • Utilizes the LMS to test, assign, and track training material
  • Manages photo library, editing photos as needed
  • Manages day-to-day budgeting/purchasing activities for the department
  • Provides support in other areas as needed

Working Conditions:

  • Open Office Environment
  • Some overtime for special projects or department needs


Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience developing training programs and material
  • Proficiency in Articulate Storyline and Adobe Photoshop required
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelors’ degree from a four year accredited institution 
  • Experience developing training programs in a manufacturing environment, utility environment 


Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to utilize Articulate Storyline, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Audacity to support the development of training materials, in addition to standard business software
  • Ability to handle complex issues and problems
  • Strong organizational skills to ensure the right people complete the right training
  • Ability to synthesize complex written information from multiple sources
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) at all levels
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and professional working relationships
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Self-starter who can identify opportunities and develop programs/processes to address them
  • Ability to read, create and follow written policies and procedures
  • Ability to read, write and understand English
  • Ability to edit written material for syntax, diction, and spelling
  • Ability to complete tasks on time without direct supervision


Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities
