Job Summary

The Strategic Partnerships Analyst role will be responsible for strategically introducing and managing partnerships that serve Green Mountain Energy and the associated Sun Club non-profit. The chosen candidate should be passionate about sustainability and nonprofit work in the communities that Green Mountain Energy serves. To be successful in this role, you must be organized, have a natural ability to maintain strategic long-term relationships, and the ability to communicate clearly and negotiate effectively. This person should be comfortable presenting in front of executives, negotiating contracts, and managing timelines and relationships (internally and externally). This position will be on the Green Mountain Energy Product Innovation team and have dual reporting to the Strategic Partnerships Manager of Green Mountain Energy and the Executive Director of the Green Mountain Energy Sun Club. 


Strategic Partnerships Responsibilities (75% of job)

  • Manage and implement business development and sales activities in the Green Mountain footprint
  • Manage partner relationships throughout the entire partnership cycle, from initial contact, to internal approval, to contract signing, to partnership renewal
  • Identify, generate and maintain partnership opportunities through networking, research, and analysis.
  • Assist with core business development activities, such as managing the pipeline of potential strategic partners, generating presentations and summaries of partnership opportunities, and communicating with potential partners to better understand how our businesses can add value to each other
  • Develop recommendations for which potential partners will have the greatest impact on Green Mountain’s business
  • Ability to be forward-thinking and strategic to cultivate and develop opportunities for Green Mountain.
  • Identify and manage a portfolio of strategic partners across several different industries.
  • Quantify business and strategic opportunities and prioritize accounts accordingly.
  • Develop an individual partnership growth plan for each partner and project-manage the portfolio accordingly.
  • Collaborate with other departments, including product development, legal, marketing, sales, and management to ensure a successful partnership.


Sun Club Responsibilities (25% of job)

  • Have a passion for sustainability and the Sun Club mission of investing in nonprofits to advance sustainability for people and the plane
  • Contribute to application solicitation and selection by conducting outreach to nonprofits and evaluating and communicating qualification criteria
  • Prepare contracts with nonprofits and effectively negotiate marketing and publicity opportunities
  • Execute against all marketing and publicity opportunities agreed upon in the contract by coordinating with nonprofits throughout the life of the agreement (often several years)
  • Lead discussions and coordinate joint promotional efforts, including press releases and ribbon cutting events
  • Develop and maintain regular reporting related to application pipeline, nonprofit partner milestones, and overall Sun Club impact
  • Collaborate closely with marketing and PR teams both internally and externally
  • Collaborate closely with customer experience team to meet performance goals
  • Perform regular trainings to keep internal team informed of new applications and impact metrics
  • Provide support to the team for requested tasks, taking it upon themselves to organize, communicate, and develop next steps proactively


Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a sales or business development role
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Must be able to travel overnight up to 20%


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with non-profit organizations

  • Ability to effectively independently assess, prioritize, and execute on tasks
