Job Summary: 


Senior Sourcing Specialist is responsible for establishing strategic direction and leading the development, management, and implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives for assigned corporate-wide Retail related categories or projects. Sourcing categories may include corporate services, IT products and services, marketing and advertising, call center services, and direct sales categories. 


This position will lead complex sourcing initiatives and cross-functional project teams using established strategic sourcing methods and project management methodology. Responsible for coaching and leading peers for all aspects of managing the contracting lifecycle, including but not limited to leading sourcing project teams, negotiating complex terms and conditions, settling claims, resolving conflict and closing out the contracting process. Negotiates or manages the negotiation of complex contract terms and conditions, cost savings, and performance standards to meet desired initiative or project outcomes. Communicates with all levels of management within the sourcing area and within the company. Regularly participates in business unit meetings to communicate or collaborate on initiatives, project activity, supplier performance and business planning. Possesses extensive market knowledge, creates, reviews and analyzes financial data and key performance indicators for assigned business unit, or assigned commodity or services category initiatives and/or projects. Initiates action through business unit partners and suppliers to resolve disputes, negotiate solutions, and implement corrective actions where necessary. Responsible for developing and implementing business unit specific sourcing plans.




Essential Duties/Responsibilities:


  • Monitors corporate, business unit and industry activities to identify strategic sourcing opportunities and lead efforts to leverage improvements in cost and quality or to implement best practices.
  • Leads the development, management, and implementation of strategic sourcing initiatives for assigned corporate wide commodities or services categories. 
  • Monitors supplier and contract activity and identifies areas for improved cost savings, including preparation of supporting financial analysis ensuring that the “Total Cost of Ownership” is factored in the evaluation process. Regularly reviews and analyzes financial data to ensure the achievement of immediate cost savings, forecasts future savings impact, and communicates findings to the business unit customers and management.
  • Leads cross-functional teams for sourcing initiatives and major projects.  Guides workflow in assigned segment/category.  Develops project plans to achieve desired savings and efficiency results while meeting business unit customer needs.  Oversees team’s work efforts to achieve plan and delivery dates, communicates status to business unit partners and management, presents findings and recommendations, and manages the implementation process. 
  • Negotiates or manages the negotiation of strategic supplier contracts and agreements for corporate-wide and business unit initiatives and projects. Leads the negotiation of terms and conditions, managing corporate risk while achieving desired total cost savings and performance results. Utilizes sourcing best practices to efficiently and effectively lead initiative and project teams.
  • Manages complex strategic supplier relationships for the benefit of corporate-wide or business unit needs. Maintains effective relationships with suppliers within assigned commodities or services categories. Monitors and analyzes supplier activity for optimum financial, contractual, and performance levels. Regularly communicates with suppliers for continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates with business unit partners and management to ensure effective communications through regular meetings to discuss future needs and plans, report on initiative or project activity, resolve supplier or product performance concerns and suggest areas where additional value can be achieved. Collaborates with business unit to monitor and report savings and other key performance information. Manages problem resolution dialogues with customers and suppliers to satisfactory outcomes.
  • Maintains compliance with all strategic sourcing process and procedures and practices. Participates in the development of sourcing policies and best practices. Effectively resolves policy concerns and ensures compliance with all internal and external policies and regulations, reinforcing their use by business unit partners and management. 



Working Conditions:


  • Open office environment.
  • Some overtime required as special projects arise.
  • Travel (minimal < 10 % of time)


Minimum Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree or 4 years of applicable supply chain experience
  • 3-5 years of supply chain sourcing experience


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or Engineering fields
  • 1 + years working with SAP applications
  • ISM Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM)
  • Strong experience working with contracts
  • Strong negotiation skills


Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Prior supply management experience with Corporate, IT, Marketing, Advertising, Call Center, or direct sales categories
  • Strong interpersonal, motivating and influencing skills for interacting with team members, business partners, suppliers, and management
  • Strong technical skills with required proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and manage workload with considerable independence
  • Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills for producing and communicating comprehensive and concise reports
