Job Summary: 

This position is responsible for various risk control activities in the Risk Control Group, supporting the NRG Retail businesses.  It requires a combined expertise in the financial aspects needed to understand risk measurement of financial instruments, plus knowledge of the systems used to measure the risk of a complex portfolio. 

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Communicate & maintain project timelines for Retail Risk group
  • Provide project management support for all Risk related projects
  • Take direction from Risk Directors or Managers to ensure projects are delivered to completion
  • Enforce, engage, and monitor adherence to the retail Risk Policy and Operational Controls, investigate issues, and update any policy and/or product revisions
  • Track reporting or policy discrepancies until resolved
  • Interface with other internal departments in the resolution of retail business issues as required
  • Collaborate effectively with other Risk teams and relevant NRG teams
  • Create training deck presentation and periodically conduct in-person training on the Risk Policy and the Operational Controls

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • Candidate will be located in Houston, TX
  • Open office environment

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Project management experience
  • Ability to work well with others, sharing workloads
  • 5 years of energy industry experience
  • High degree of computer literacy. Intermediate knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel is preferred.
  • Attention to detail, critical thinking and organizational skills
  • Adapts effectively to new and changing environments
  • Works independently through the use of initiative and self-motivation

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Business, economics, finance, or engineering
  • Working knowledge of energy trading markets, particularly electricity markets

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong work ethic – team player willing to fill any roles or gap to achieve an outcome
  • Understanding of compliance and basic auditing
  • Effectively communicate to a wide range of audiences in both written and oral form
  • Quickly conceptualize and assimilate data to make decisions and take appropriate action
