Job Summary:

 

The Performance Manager must identify, lead, and support strategic and performance initiatives for NRG’s Energy Retail business. In this role, you will need to be highly analytical, strong problem solver and effective communicator. You must thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess a high level of intellectual curiosity, and focus on generating results. To support and drive financial and operational performance of NRG’s businesses, candidate will perform a diverse range of assignments, projects and activities related to financial planning, supply management and portfolio optimization. Additionally, the incumbent will be expected to challenge existing business practices, propose workable solutions and drive initiatives to completion. The Performance Manager must develop skills and knowledge to effectively address and resolve issues across multiple functional groups including but not limited to Performance Management, Sales, Business development, Segment, Product Developments, Digital, Marketing, FP&A, amongst others.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

Manage the Retail P&L reports package for senior leadership.

Coordinate with strategic stakeholders for collecting and calculating data for any operational or financial performance reports.

Actively support all business units to drive the effective selection, development, implementation and integration of analytics and KPIs to optimize business activities and make meaningful business intelligence/reporting possible.

Support Retail financial performance across multiple lines of business and regional markets by assisting in the developing/updating/tracking of planned and forecasted results.

Constantly track load/supply variances to help identify and mitigate risk for the Retail portfolio.

Propose strategic recommendations that will enhance business value and drive performance improvement related to financial and operational metrics – customer count, acquisition, retention, OPEX and EBITDA.

Monitors key operational metrics that encompass the customers full lifecycle and responds as necessary to ensure consistently superior operational performance.

Analyze financial impact of trends and opportunities leveraging business metrics of success and risk such as NPV, IRR, and Payback Period.

Oversee development of reporting dashboards and identify opportunities for improvement.

Facilitates leadership and executive performance review meetings to drive actionable outcomes to hold the organization accountable to their growth objectives.

Work with various teams; providing data expertise and offering original perspectives to evaluate existing processes, products, and recommend efficient, cost effective solutions which support business strategic initiatives.

Maintain all daily/weekly/monthly key performance indicator and financial analysis data/reports.

Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting processes as needed.

 

Working Conditions:

Open office environment.

Some overtime required as special projects arise.

NRG is a fast-paced company with a significant volume of projects.  Change is the norm.

Some travel may be required.

 

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting or closely related field.  

5+ years of experience in financial modeling, forecasting, data-driven analytics required.
 

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree

Experience in competitive energy (retail/wholesale) markets preferred.

Expertise in the development of metrics, KPI’s and overall business intelligence architecture.

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Excellent verbal and written communication/presentation skills and strong ability to summarize and communicate effectively to senior leadership.

Proficiency with Pivot tables, VBA Macro, and general programming preferred.

Comfort with ambiguity; ability to work with incomplete data or seemingly open-ended questions and translate into actionable analysis.

Must be a proven self-starter—high integrity, energy, enthusiasm, and tenacity.

 

Physical Requirements:

The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.
