Operations Business Analyst

Summary:

Under general direction, prepares financial, operational, and business related analyses and research in area of Accounts Receivable Management (Credit Operations).  Prepares forecasts and analyzes trends for AR, general business conditions and other related areas to accounts receivable management. Utilizing PC and/or mainframe based systems and software; compiles and prepares reports, graphs and charts of data developed. Assists in the development of business policies, conducts special financial and business related studies and cooperates with other departments in the preparation of analyses.  Competent to work at the highest level of most phases of system and process analysis while considering the business implications to the current and future business environment.  Gather business requirements and functional requirements in order to draft and submit Change Requests.  Conducts user acceptance testing.  Must monitor effectiveness of business processes, conduct analysis, make recommendations, and coordinate implementation for system and process improvements.  Most of the work will be project based versus predictable day-to-day tasks and will often be responsible for multiple tasks at a given time.

 

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collect data from internal and external sources to facilitate meaningful analysis
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and reporting of data
  • Conduct cost studies and/or financial analysis to provide valued information to clients in support of cost related initiatives Prepare spreadsheets, graphics, and word documents as required for reporting, analysis, documentation, and presentations
  • Develop and implement appropriate methods for monitoring, analyzing, and preparing data for management reports and statistics
  • Participate in development and implementation of new processes and tools to streamline workflow and creative recommendations/solutions for system workarounds until program changes and/or enhancements are made to correct critical issues that arise.
  • Perform internal control reviews of existing processes and make improvements to increase effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Utilizing PC and/or mainframe based systems and software; compiles and prepares reports, graphs and charts of developed data
  • Involve cooperating with other departments in the preparation of analyses or recommendations
  • Provide innovative solutions to client needs.
  • Review existing reports and identify opportunities for improvement in accuracy and timing.
  • Effectively interface with a wide variety of people both internally and externally to ensure delivery of information and analysis that supports business strategy.
  • Prepare and/or delivers short presentations for updates, findings, presentations, etc.
  • Perform assigned projects
  • Identify root cause of problems and then work on system, process, training, or procedure fixes to prevent issues from occurring
  • Identify and document technical system and process requirements for improved operational efficiencies.
  • Coordinate with business and IT to manage minor enhancements, implement system enhancements, conduct training and address gaps and defects
  • Represent the ARM Implementation team on department-wide or cross-functional initiatives, and make sound business decisions and recommendations to those teams
  • Create test cases and test system modifications.
  • Participate on the team’s Business Continuity Program as an immediate primary participant.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business; other disciplines may be considered, depending on experience.
  • Direct and relevant industry experience may substitute for some education requirement.

 

Experience:

  • Two or more years’ experience in operations within energy industry or retail operations in competitive consumer services with credit/collections related experience is required.
  • Master’s Degree in directly related field may be considered in lieu of some experience requirements.
  • Knowledge of the SAP/CCS system is required. 
  • Working knowledge with MS Excel and Access required.

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

  • Majority of work performed from a seated position in front of a computer.
  • Normal office environment
  • Occasional travel
