Job Summary:

The Retail Continuous Improvement (CI) Intern position is part of NRG’s Retail Operations organization which is responsible for supporting NRG’s residential, business, and home solar customers. The Retail Continuous Improvement team is looking for an intellectually curious, and highly motivated college student to join them during the summer of 2020 as an intern.  The CI Intern will have the opportunity to work with a wide array of teams across the company and explore a variety of career options while gaining knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, Robotic Process Automation (RPA), as well as technical and professional decision-making skills.  In addition, the CI Intern will have the opportunity to assess their capabilities, skills and interests, as well as experience NRG's culture and values. In this role the CI Intern may support business functions such as Customer Communications, Back-Office Operations (Billing, Enrollment, Fulfillment, etc.), and Account Management, as well as corporate functions to help map and analyze processes to identify opportunities that drive efficiency, provide value to customers, and leverage automation to transform capabilities across NRG ensuring we stay ahead of the competition.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Participate in key functional areas or core operational/business groups on a variety of strategic initiatives and projects.
  • Help assess and interpret customer needs and process requirements for improved operational efficiencies, automation potential and better customer experience.
  • Help provide analytical support to Retail Operations teams on internal business processes and system capabilities to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develop process documentation to ensure successful onboarding/knowledge transfer.
  • Learn Lean Six Sigma methodologies and how to use within organizational operations to accomplish business objectives and drive change.

  • Open office environment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at an accredited university or college.
  • On track to achieving bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • On track to achieve bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering or Supply Chain.

  • Professional open office environment with the majority of work performed on a personal computer in a seated position.
