As a member of the Digital Solutions team, the Digital Middleware Engineer will have the opportunity to work both independently and as part of a team on complex projects that span multiple infrastructure or applications components. This role requires the candidate to perform the design, installation, configuration, deployment, high availability, scalability, and troubleshooting of the web application environments. 

Position Responsibilities: 

  • Work with Developers and Architects in the architecture, design, and development of applications built with the Middleware technologies, Java, J2EE and web applications based on requirements.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems in timely and accurate manner to improve application performance and functionality.
  • Develop and implement standard processes for installation, maintenance and enhancement of middleware applications.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively to ensure that project deliverables and deadlines are met
  • Monitor systems health and performance, plan and execute DR procedures, and provide 2nd tier technical support.
  • Prepare and update documentation as appropriate.
  • Analyze and develop technology solutions based on business requirements.
  • Create and update documentation for middleware installations, changes and upgrades.
  • Train other team members on middleware updates and new installations.

Required Skills and Experience: 

  • 3-5 years hands on experience performing in a senior WebSphere Administrator capacity in a Network Deployment environment using WAS 7.x or higher in a large AIX and Linux production environment.
  • In-depth knowledge
  • Expertise in administration of Oracle Web Tier (iPlanet) or IBM IHS.
  • Apache Tomcat administration experience is required.
  • Good working knowledge of Java/J2EE concepts (JDBC, JMS, JSP, EJB, JNDI).
  • Proven understanding of the UNIX (AIX and Linux) operating systems.
  • Solid analytical and troubleshooting skills in the areas of UNIX, Networking, DMZ, Firewalls, J2EE, and Web and Application Servers.
  • Proficient in administration of CA Directory Server (LDAP) and CA Siteminder (SSO).
  • Possess good understanding of concepts related to web server load balancing and DNS.
  • Experience with Web Analytics (Google Analytics, Omniture/SiteCatalyst, Dynatrace AppMon and DCRUM) is a plus
  • Jython or JACL scripting is a plus
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools (IBM UrbanCode, Git, Artifactory, Jenkins), automation tools (Chef, Docker, Kubernetes), and cloud environments (Bluemix, AWS, Azure) is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, management information system, or other technical discipline.
