The Digital Implementation and Optimization Analyst will gain a deep understanding of NRG’s retail business goals to oversee the day-to-day strategy and execution of our optimization and digital testing programs (including but not limited to A/B testing, user testing, amp development, and personalization and digital content targeting) to increase engagement, conversion rates, and online revenue. As the primary contact, the role holder will manage, develop, analyze, communicate and advise on actionable digital strategies based on results.


Key responsibilities working with the following teams:


  • IT/Development  -- Must be able to understand and read requirements and wireframes, work independently, and code proficiently in HTML and JS leveraging frameworks such as Bootstrap
  • Web analytics – Should be able to interpret basic site and content analytics reports; able to work with data to strategize and prioritize initiatives; must be able to communicate results and propose action based on those results
  • User experience – Understanding of user research to help facilitate studies and provide insights; work with the UX team as they create prototypes to advise on feasibility of various options.


Overall responsibilities:


  • Work closely with IT, PMs and Solution Architects to design, implement and optimize the technology to support business needs and requirements
  • Build and manage web and personalized/targeted content with various tools using HTML, JS, and PHP. Java a plus.
  • Understand customer personas and needs in order to research, create and implement relevant content for various targeted audiences
  • Evolve the vision and program for personalization and targeting of content across all digital platforms (web, mobile, app) to drive customer engagement, acquisitions, retention and customer satisfaction
  • Administer and validate design and content effectiveness through research, A/B testing, segment-based targeting, behavior targeting and usability studies. SDL SmartTarget or SDL Tridion experience a plus
  • Maintain repository of test results and recommendations that can be shared throughout the company
  • Evaluate content personalization /target testing  tools and manage relationships with vendors as needed
  • Diagnose and solve technical issues
  • Establish the methodology to measure and analyze the effectiveness of customer engagement across personalized touch points; define and ensure measurements are in place
  • Identify, evaluate and prioritize site improvement opportunities working with web analytical tools such as Omniture and MarketMuse
  • Work collaboratively with acquisition and customer lifecycle teams for optimization of digital programs
  • Meet with team and stakeholders to communicate results and propose actionable strategies based on analytics results




  • Solid HTML and JS experience required.  Understanding of responsive design and development and use of frameworks such as Bootstrap a must.  Understanding and familiarity with PHP ideal. WordPress and Java experience a plus. 
  • Working knowledge of usability principles and website best practices
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
  • Should be familiar with card sorting, usability testing, heuristic analyses, A/B testing and multivariate testing concepts
  • Good understanding of online marketing channels
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills - Background in technical writing a plus. 
  • A high level of interest in online technology and digital best practices
  • Familiarity with content management systems -  SDL Tridion experience a plus
  • Familiarity with web analytics tools – Omniture/Adobe Analytics experience a plus
  • Highly organized, creative and attentive to detail; able to manage, prioritize, and bring to completion multiple projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility to accommodate different situations and temperaments
  • Persistence, resourcefulness, drive, and ability to work proactively with a team or independently 


Education and experience:


  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, advertising, marketing, communications, user experience, design or a related field required
  • 3+ years in web development
  • 1+ years digital marketing
