Purpose

Assists the Maintenance Manager in overseeing all maintenance work at the Mustang Station plant.  Supervise, train and develop junior level staff.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Supports and emphasizes importance of safety and environmental programs and ensures regulatory compliance
  • Assigns work and holds employees accountable for their performance
  • Performs field inspections of job sites and work in progress
  • Promotes productivity and teamwork in assigned area with open communication, timely decision making, and use of personal leadership skills to set high standards of performance while providing the direction necessary to achieve that performance
  • Promotes and supports the development of technical, leadership, and business skills of employees to carry out responsibilities in a competitive environment
  • Provides regular feedback to employees on their performance to allow them to capitalize on their strengths and focus on opportunities for improvement
  • Demonstrates behavior that encourages and rewards employee involvement, innovative thinking, adaptation to change, responsible risk taking, customer focus, and continuous improvement
  • Ensures development and implementation of assigned area goals, objectives, and initiatives
  • Reviews performance with customers/clients and addresses opportunities for improvement
  • Ensures all Company resources are utilized in a cost effective manner, estimates resource requirements, monitors expenditures, and reports on performance of assigned area
  • Recognizes problems and is proactive in helping to resolve them
  • Understands and consistently applies personnel policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates work activities with other maintenance crafts, operations, and contractors
  • Develops, implements, and monitors work plans and schedules in their area of responsibility
  • Ensures work performed by external service providers is in support of objectives, responsibilities, and contractual agreements
  • Assesses risk, makes appropriate run-repair-replace decisions and coordinates vendor selection for parts and services as required
  • Maintain a current assessment of the maintenance backlog
  • Supervisor responsibilities
  • Reports to Maintenance Manager
  • Will supervise up to 5 direct reports
  • May be required to oversee the work of contractors.

 

Working Conditions

  • Normal office environment and/or power plant environment
  • Requires operation of a motor vehicle, valid state driver’s license required
  • Requires operation of a personal computer
  • Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required
  • Requires occasional travel outside service area

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering, Business, or related discipline from an accredited college or university with 6 years of related maintenance experience or experience of 8 years or more in a related field may be substituted for degree.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters level degree in Business or Engineering
  • Knowledge of power plant systems and operations, and comprehensive knowledge in the area of responsibility
  • Experience leading/supervising employees in a related field
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA safety regulations as it relates to power plant operation, or similar operations.

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Understands the processes, systems, assets, resources, key personnel, and business functions of the Strategic Business Unit.
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and personnel management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work harmoniously and effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) at all levels of the organization.  Able to prepare reports at request of management as required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all individuals
  • Intermediate level Computer Skills using standard business software (MS Office Suite), able to quickly learn new software systems.
  • Ability to create and implement written policies and procedures
  • Ability to understand and use work management systems
  • Knowledge of and support for applicable safety and environmental regulations
  • Experience using SAP, Intelex, MS Project, Maximo or other scheduling software

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities
  • Requires standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and entering plant equipment to access, inspect, or collect data on plant equipment
  • Ability to climb multiple flights of stairs to service / inspect turbine deck and work being performed
  • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
  • May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals
