Job Summary: 

The Sales Manager will have direct oversight of the Sales team and their day to day activities. The Sales Manager with report directly to the VP of Sales. The Sales Manager will interface with Operations, Compliance and Regulatory, and Customer Care. The Sales Manager should have a solid understanding of the Energy business and be able to pass their skills and knowledge onto others.


Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Drive and Manage Sales Team to achieve objectives (margin, volume, market share, etc.)
  • Assist team with originating, managing, and closing high-value business opportunities
  • Provide oversight and strategy on company direction and future business growth opportunities
  • Identify and analyze individual customer’s energy management strategies to maximize efficiencies and reduce operating costs.
  • Build a strategy and vision to be implemented to improve sales channels to support sales goals. Ensuring that all sales channels stay at the leading edge of innovation and follow industry best practices. This includes building internal client relationships to support sales efforts and projects
  • Ensure team is leveraging organizational relationships to further business connections to achieve sales objectives
  • Identify commodity and non-commodity opportunities to add to organizational capabilities and drive differentiated capability offering vs. competitors.
  • Recruit, develop and change staff as necessary to ensure the team has a successful combination of ability, drive, and culture to achieve business objectives.
  • Drive efficiency of business process and the effectiveness of the team.
  • Extensive knowledge of energy markets including utility tariff structures
  • Strong Selling/Closing Skills.
  • Strong Sales Coaching/Management capability.
  • Dedicated to meeting the expectations of customers; the ability to get first-hand customer information and use it for improvements in products and services.
  • Effective in a variety of formal presentation settings; one on one, small and large groups; effective both inside and outside the organization; can change tactics midstream accordingly.
  • Detailed understanding of Energy Marketing processes or has sufficient technical background and learning aptitude to be able to quickly master the basic components of the processes.
  • Able to communicate effectively in oral and written form to all levels of an organization.
  • Ability to manage projects and resources.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn a new industry, company, product or technical knowledge and effectively convey that knowledge to customers.
  • Must have experience in goal setting and sales strategy
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of successful sales management
  • Proven track record of sales growth success
  • Ability to work autonomously
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Energy Supply, Brokerage and Demand response
  • Must have experience in goal setting and sales strategy
  • Call center experience is also a plus


Physical Requirements:

  • Sitting for long periods of time
