Distributed Energy Resources Analyst Job Summary:


The Distributed Energy Resources Analyst has responsibility for supporting the sales, market operations and customer care groups with the Distributed Energy Resources product offerings in all applicable markets:



  • Support sales in identifying and evaluating customer opportunities for distributed assets and ancillary products, and help to define their value to potential customers
  • Model Distributed Energy Resource opportunities to determine project viability within corporate requirements.
  • Manage a pipeline of opportunities which need to be modeled, revised, and approved.
  • Develop project P/L and interface with DER market operations team to maintain financial performance report(s) for the respective project(s)
  • Support market operations to ensure all customers and assets are optimally positioned and enrolled in the correct programs prior to the commissioning of the resource.
  • Interface with the broader team and customers on an as-needed basis throughout the sales process and in post-contract relationship management
  • Develop new and evolving products and sales strategies, particularly in response to market regulation changes


Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Business Administration or a related field of study
  • Minimum of  3 years of experience as a business and/or financial analyst 
  • Must demonstrate a strong understanding of Northeast power and gas markets as well as gas/electric utility and REP landscape
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of demand response and ancillary market programs
  • Must demonstrate an understanding of customer load profiles and modeling distributed resources to maximize the opportunity for customer and NRG
  • Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written
  • Must demonstrate excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Must demonstrate a professional manner and ability to establish and maintain good working relationships
  • Strong analytical background and problem-solving skills
  • Past experience demonstrating an aptitude for learning and flexibility


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Expertise in retail commodity contracts and product structures
  • Basic technical understanding of energy production equipment, or ability to learn new asset classes is 
  • Knowledge of corporate finance and ability to work cross-functionally with corporate support groups including risk, structuring, and treasury experience in internal and external customer-facing roles
