Job Summary: 

The Business Operations Finance Analyst role will focus on supporting all aspects of Business Operations financial calculations and reporting. This includes playing an intricate role in program/market revenue calculations, customer and affiliate payment calculations and gross margin analysis and reporting. This position will also support the Business Operations team to ensure the group is performing all necessary controls/processes that are required for Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance relating to financial reporting. This position will also be utilized for various Business Operations related projects/requirements such as customer registrations, market settlements and various types of reporting.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Business Operations team to ensure financial values that the Business Operations group is responsible for calculating and reporting on are accurate and controls around those calculations related to financial reporting are in place and operating effectively
  • Have a strong finance background and ability to analyze financial trends and results
  • Expectations will at times be to calculate financial estimates based on market results and customer contracts, while at other times review in detail the calculations of others
  • Work with the current Business Operations Analyst responsible for customer payment calculations to ensure all payment values are calculated accurately and reported timely
  • Provide useful insights into process improvements and an improved control environment
  • Have a general understanding of the DER business (DR, ABDR) and the markets NRG conducts business in
  • Develop a strong understanding of Demand Response as a product and a strong understanding of customer contract language
  • Have a working knowledge of all market(s) and of IT systems in which contract information is housed
  • Be a motivated self-starter

  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with a diverse group of customers and internal departments

Working Conditions:

  • Open office environment
  • Some overtime required as special projects arise
  • Minimal travel

 
Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 2-years of working experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree has a focus on business administration or finance/accounting
  • Work experience in a financial role
  • 3-5 years of professional work experience
