Job Summary

The Marketing Manager/ Sr. Manager – Product Marketing* role reports to the Head of Marketing and is a key leader within the marketing department. This position is responsible for: public relations, advertising, product marketing, consumer events, field training, and corporate tradeshows.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work with the Head of Marketing and marketing team to create an annual marketing calendar that outlines all major marketing events for the upcoming year
  • Create and maintain the product marketing calendar, a subset of the marketing calendar that focuses on product launches and category growth opportunities
  • Manage the PR spend and align PR pushes with key product categories and customer segments
  • Coordinate with Goal Zero’s various departments to ensure marketing needs are met across direct to consumer, B2B, wholesale and clubs. This includes working with the Head of Marketing to prioritize needs across all departments and requires strong and regular communication
  • Help create and manage specific cost budgets annually and forecasted quarterly, including PR, Advertising, Field Marketing, Events and Tradeshows
  • Manage the Field Marketing and Events Coordinator with a focus on growth and development.
  • Act as a leader within the marketing department aligning with the marketing strategic initiatives and recommending opportunities for strategic growth
  • Prioritize and execute on opportunities to grow the Goal Zero business, attract new customers and grow brand/category awareness within budgets and time constraints
  • Evangelize product launches and PR/ Advertising wins both internally and externally

 

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communication. In lieu of a degree, an equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered
  • Must have previous experience developing strategic product marketing plans and evaluating marketing program effectiveness
  • Must have previous experience directing Marketing and sales activities
  • Must demonstrate effective problem solving and creative abilities

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications
  • 5 plus years of experience in a marketing role
  • 2 plus years in a leadership role

  • Strong knowledge of PR and advertising including the ability to track results of spend and optimize moving forward
  • Sound business acumen and a track record of solid decision making and smart investments of time and budget
  • The ability to collaborate within the department and organization to ensure marketing needs are met and voices across the organization are heard
  • Strong self-management with attention to prioritization of projects and meeting deadlines
  • The ability to develop direct reports and provide them with growth opportunities as their development permits
  • Strong knowledge of consumer events and tradeshows and ensuring shows Goal Zero attends are brand building and financially beneficial
  • Detail oriented and highly organized
  • The ability to plan a budget that is both effective and efficient

 

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to stand and/or sit for extended periods of time; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms
  • Regularly required to use the computer to communicate via online channels
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds
  • Minimal domestic travel is required – approximately 5%
  • Evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand
