MAINTENANCE MANAGER

This position is accountable for leading the routine maintenance and outage activities at the coal/oil fired Avon Lake Generating Station. The successful candidate will be held personally responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and administration of maintenance strategy to meet the operating needs of the plant in a modern, challenging and competitive environment.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide leadership in accordance with the Company’s Vision and Core Values with a devoted and clear emphasis on safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Maintaining the station equipment and systems in accordance with operating needs, and doing so in a safe and environmentally compliant manner.
  • Provide overall direction and support of in-station and contractor maintenance work activities to ensure timely and satisfactory job completion (this includes forced and scheduled outage activities).
  • Responsible for station direction of the supply chain activities including storeroom management and procurement activities.
  • Provide leadership and supervision to all maintenance personnel, planning and stores personnel.
  • Support the preparation and control of the maintenance portion of the station’s budget.
  • Maintaining an adequate spare parts inventory to maintain equipment availability and reduce lost margin.

     

Minimum Requirements

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in the maintenance of power plant mechanical and/or electrical systems is required.
  • An excellent working knowledge of power plant steam, mechanical, electrical and chemical systems and their appropriate integration for efficient and effective production.

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • A working knowledge of SAP would be a plus.

 

Knowledge/Skills & Abilities:

 

  • Demonstrated competencies relative to this position include experience, credibility and the ability to garner the respect of experienced, dedicated union maintenance personnel. 
  • Committed personal accountability, adaptability and flexibility in a changing environment, complex problem solving, and a high tolerance for stress.
  • Strong communications and leadership ability is absolutely essential to succeeding in this position.

 

Working Conditions:

 

  • Some office environment and extensive time spent out in an industrial power plant environment.
  • Requires operation of a motor vehicle and a valid driver’s license in state of residency.
  • Work overtime and non-standard working hours as required.
  • Requires occasional travel outside service area.
  • Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment (respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, ear plugs, etc.)
  • May be required to work around rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials and chemicals.
