Job Summary: 

The Senior Associate will manage and carry out a diverse range of assignments, projects, and activities to support and drive the performance of the Canada Competitive Go to Market team.  This will include reviewing and creating acquisition and retention campaigns operationally and assist in segmentation pricing and costing of retail gas, electricity, and other revenue streams for residential and commercial customers.  Other responsibilities will include operational analysis, and other ad hoc financial analysis.  The position requires strong attention to detail towards data, strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to meet stringent and regular deadlines.   

 

The individual will work closely with various groups in marketing operations, product development, portfolio management, forecasting and market operations located in Calgary, AB and Houston, TX to achieve team goals.  The individual will also interact with IT and drive the implementation of system and process migrations and improvement.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Actively support Canada business unit to drive the effective selection, development, implementation and integration of analytics and KPIs to optimize business activities and make meaningful business intelligence/reporting possible

  • Oversee the development of acquisition, renewal and retention campaigns operationally

  • Coordinate pricing approvals and create offer request form for execution

  • Manage integration of pricing into the system and QC process

  • Participate in weekly campaign execution efforts and run prelaunch and postlaunch efforts to meet requirements

  • Engage in segmentation and pricing strategies for campaigns

  • Provide market and customer analysis to determine market segmentation and targeting for products

  • Oversee development of reporting dashboards and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Monitor key operational metrics and respond as necessary to ensure performance at or above expectations

  • Identify opportunities for improvement and engage in cross-functional initiatives to drive improved performance

  • Assist in providing daily transaction costing and structuring of retail gas and electricity products

  • Drive NRG vision and values throughout the team

  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business field from an accredited college or university required

  • 5+ years of experience in financial/operational role

  • Proficient Excel modeling skills and PowerPoint required

  • Experience with data visualization software preferred

  • Research driven mindset that is anchored in curiosity, learning, and balanced with excellent analytical, problem solving and project management/organization skills

  • Strong work ethic, with an effective combination of business acumen, sound decision-making, and a bias for action; ability to act in a decisive, urgent, and committed way to achieve results; remain focused on deliverables and leverage resources to reach goals

  • Comfortable working in a growth environment, working with a new team and providing recommendations on improving existing processes

  • Effective at dealing with ambiguity

  • Exceptional communicator (written and verbal), able to present a story and strategic options in a clear, concise manner

  • High level of motivation and aptitude for problem solving, with a strong attention to detail

  • Excellent interpersonal skills as this position requires significant interface with outside stakeholders and the leadership team

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  •  2+ years of energy experience
  • 2+ years work experience in an analytical, strategic planning or project management role

  • Experience working in deregulated energy in Alberta

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to handle multiple assignment on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy

  • Ability to work independently and complete responsibilities with little supervision, yet work well in team-orientated culture

  • Preferred experience with subscription-based businesses (retail energy, insurance, cable, internet, etc.)

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasionally requires lifting as appropriate to perform duties and responsibilities/Position requires employee to work using a laptop/computer screen
