Job Summary: 
The NRG Sales Support Associate’s primary responsibility is to serve as subject matter expert on the company’s retail energy business operations, processes, and systems to assist NRG Sales originators with maximizing the efficient growth of the business through revenue generation activities. This includes developing and maintaining strong working relationships with NRG Business C&I customers and third-party sales channels and serving as the in-house point of contact.  The Sales Support Associate collects, researches, and verifies customer account information to accurately price and generate power and natural gas proposals and contracts.  Responsible for deal set up through checkout and ensuring contracts flow to downstream processes for timely enrollment and in accordance with Operations and utility guidelines. The incumbent will also serve as the go-to person for the territory, with knowledge and expertise of the market, customers, and third-party partners.  The candidate will be responsible for maintaining current knowledge of sales-related processes, products, and systems, as well as communication of and adherence to regional utility, state/provincial and ISO operating rules, and, as tenure increases, be able to train and answer questions of their teammates and Account Executives on the same.  The Sales Support Associate will be expected be able to help teammates and Account Executives navigate roadblocks with deals and systems and have a superior knowledge of and relationships with the other functional groups with which Sales interacts.  The Sales Support Associate should have a continuous improvement mentality and look for opportunities to enhance NRG’s processes and be able to participate in improvement efforts and UAT testing. 

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collect and verify Power and Natural Gas usage information.
  • Ensure accurate deal structure of Power, Natural Gas, and other product offerings.
  • Accurately price and understand product offerings to prepare proposals/contracts and assist in generating revenue; Create proposals and contracts for Power and Natural Gas customers.
  • Maintain SLA productivity target in managing deal set ups delivering RFPs on time
  • Generate and review contracts for various product offerings.  Assist in contract renewal efforts. Identify customers up for renewal and provide updated pricing
  • Adjudicate and approve credit for small customers via utility invoice review and internal pay history review
  • Meet with customers and channel partners as necessary in the presentation of pricing or post sales account management
  • Act as a liaison between the sales originators, customers, sales channels, and Operations departments to resolve customer issues
  • Provide expertise in the use of CRM and pricing systems, and assist in execution of process and system changes
  • Assist in development of Request for Proposal response packages
  • Produce ad-hoc customer reports
  • Research and resolve enrollment failures, and dropped customer accounts to minimize any negative financial impact
  • Maintain knowledge on commodity and Solutions products, contract terms and conditions, DE risk policy and internal processes. 
  • Follow all Sales, Legal and Contract Administration policies and procedures to avoid and minimize financial risk.
  • Initiate and coordinate accurate and timely LDC enrollment paperwork.

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma
  • 2 or more years experience in sales, marketing, or customer service.  
  • Knowledge of utility rules and requirements for retail energy suppliers
  • User capability with Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills required.

 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; preferably in Business Management, Marketing, or a related field
  • Energy industry experience preferred
  • Knowledge of retail energy commodity products and pricing components preferred
  • Knowledge of the sales cycle preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent sitting in a comfortable position and there is occasional opportunity to move about
