Job Summary:
As a Financial Analyst, you will play a critical role in supporting our financial planning, analysis, and reporting functions for Direct Energy’s regulated and competitive businesses. Your expertise and strategic insights will directly contribute to driving financial performance and decision-making within the organization.
Main Responsibilities:
• Conduct financial analysis and modeling to support business decisions
• Prepare and present financial reports and variance analysis
• Assist in the development of annual budgets and forecasts
• Monitor and analyze financial performance against budget and forecast
• Identify and communicate financial risks and opportunities
• Analyze the trends of key performance indicators (KPIs)
• Develop and continually improve budgeting, financial projections, and operating forecasts
• Ad-hoc business performance reporting
• Process mapping and documentation to standardize planning and performance tasks
• Data mining and data visualization of financial results
Minimum Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting or equivalent
• Professional designation (CPA, CMA, CA, CGA, CFA) is desirable but not a must.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial analysis & planning, within the retail energy industry or similar.
• In-depth knowledge of financial principles (GAAP/IFRS and financial reporting), budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling techniques.
• Advanced Excel proficiency, and experience with ERP systems (Oracle HFM, SAP, etc).
• Experience developing insightful PowerBI dashboards strongly preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, critical/analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret complex financial data, analyze trends, and provide strategic insights and recommendations.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively communicate financial concepts to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
• Proven track record of driving process improvements and implementing financial best practices.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated commitment to professional growth and continuous learning.
• Ability to build positive relationships, influence and constructively challenge with various stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance in retail energy industry
• Broad overall accounting experience: cash flow, internal controls, accounting policies and procedures, tax and regulatory requirements
