Job Summary
The Claims Audit and Controls Analyst – Service Contracts is responsible for evaluating, monitoring, and strengthening internal controls across the service contract claims lifecycle. This role ensures claim accuracy, contractual compliance, regulatory adherence, and operational efficiency within a service contract environment. The analyst autonomously conducts audits of service contract claims, identifies control gaps and financial risk, recommends corrective action and partners with cross-functional teams to implement those actions to reduce claim leakage, prevent improper payments, and improve overall claims quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine and ad hoc audits of service contract claims to assess compliance with service contract terms, internal policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of controls within the claims process, including adjudication, payment authorization, vendor invoicing, and reimbursement.
- Identify control gaps, process inefficiencies, claim leakage, emerging risks, and potential fraud or abuse within service contract claims.
- Analyze claims, parts, labor, and vendor data to detect trends, recurring errors, pricing discrepancies, and systemic issues impacting claim outcomes.
- Document audit findings and prepare clear, concise reports outlining root causes, financial impact, and recommended corrective actions.
- Present audit results to leadership, and other business stakeholders.
- Collaborate with claims operations, service contract administration, compliance, and finance teams to develop and implement corrective action plans.
- Monitor remediation efforts and validate that corrective actions are implemented effectively and sustained over time.
- Support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of policies, procedures, and control frameworks.
- Stay current on service contract regulations, industry standards, and best practices related to claims processing, contract interpretation, and internal controls.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Risk Management, or equivalent relevant experience.
- 3+ years of experience in claims auditing, claims operations, internal audit, compliance, or risk management.
- Strong understanding of claims processes, including contract terms, coverage determination, exclusions, and payment controls.
- Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to interpret large claims data sets and identify trends, anomalies, and risk indicators.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with claims/reporting tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience with service contracts or similar administered products.
- Knowledge of state service contract regulations, administrator compliance requirements, and consumer protection standards.
- Experience auditing third-party administrators, repair facilities, dealers, or vendor payment processes.
- Familiarity with audit management systems, claims platforms, or data visualization tools.
