Job Summary: 

The Analyst must support strategic and performance initiatives for NRG’s Energy Retail business. In this role, you will need to be highly analytical, strong problem solver and effective communicator. You must thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess a high level of intellectual curiosity, and focus on generating results. To support and drive financial and operational performance of NRG’s businesses, candidate will perform a diverse range of assignments, projects and activities related to financial planning, supply management and portfolio optimization. The Analyst must develop skills and knowledge to effectively address and assist in projects across multiple functional groups including but not limited to Performance Management, Sales, Business development, Segment, Product Developments, Digital, Marketing, FP&A, amongst others.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate closely with all business units to actively support the selection, development, and seamless integration of analytics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and interpretation of customer trends from large, complex data sets. Your role will be instrumental in optimizing business activities, unlocking meaningful business intelligence, and enhancing data-driven decision-making

  • Apply advanced analytical skills to assess the financial impact of emerging trends, opportunities, and key operational metrics throughout the customer lifecycle

  • Leverage business metrics like Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback Period, and respond promptly to ensure consistently superior operational performance, guiding informed decision-making

  • Work with IT and Data Analytics teams to ensure data infrastructure and reporting is auditable and consistent for analytical purposes

  • Develop, monitor, and maintain automated reports that showcase performance trends and track key financial metrics

  • Develop ad hoc financial and operational reporting processes as needed

  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Working Conditions:

  • Combination of Open office, remote, and hybrid working environment

  • Some overtime required as special projects arise

  • Minimal Travel

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, engineering, computer science, data analytics or other quantitative discipline

  • 2+ years of experience in financial modeling and/or data-driven analytics in either a business or academic environment

  • Proficiency in computer languages such as Python, SQL, or similar programming languages

  • Experience in the development of metrics, KPI’s and overall business intelligence architecture

  • Experience querying and working with multiple databases

  • Proficiency with Excel, including pivot tables

  • Comfort with ambiguity; ability to work with incomplete data or seemingly open-ended questions and translate into actionable analysis

  • Must by detail oriented and highly organized
