Job Summary:

This important leadership role will be responsible to build a motivated and high performing team accountable for Business Planning and Performance in Canada Home. The Business Planning and Performance portfolio will focus on improving business performance by delivering enhanced business analytics, decision support while driving accountability across all residential/small commercial all portfolios. This role will ensure accurate forecasts, monitor and evaluate data analytics to determine enhancements and efficiencies while working across the NRG organization.

 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • This individual will be a key member of the Canada Home Leadership team which is focused on forecasting, monitoring and delivering customer, employee and organizational goals for regulated and competitive customers in Canada

  • This role is responsible for working across the NRG organization to develop and deliver the business planning and performance portfolio’s vision/strategy for all Canadian brands for superior growth

  • Serve as a general thought partner to leadership and other internal stakeholders on shaping business unit and regulatory strategy

  • This individual will represent Canada at all data related forums to share best practices and optimize investments

  • Partner closely with the Canada LT to ensure cross-functional alignment, integration and efficiency develop and execute the roadmap

  • Deliver growth through the identification and pursuit of strategic partnerships and business development opportunities (including M&A) in alignment with corporate and regional strategy

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual planning and reporting processes for the Canada Home LT, delivering high-quality and insightful reports and analytics

  • Develop and maintain financial scenario models and business case development with sensitivity to internal and external factors in support of the Canadian business objectives

  • Promote business accountability through the establishment of financial/non-financial targets and the measurement and reporting of business performance

  • Deliver actionable insights (customer payment behavior, customer lifetime value, etc.) by leveraging customer data

  • Build / maintain Canada home valuation model; review quarterly output, changes, risks and opportunities

  • Develop consolidated PowerBI financial reporting for Reg / Competitive and incorporate forward book into month-end discussions; new sales, volume updates, market movements, etc.

  • Regulated/Competitive margin forecasting model and improve usefulness through:

      • Improved input transparency

      • Comprehensive sensitivity / what-if analysis

      • Enhanced variance analysis (curve shift, volumes, rate change, etc.)

  • Develop internal COA, COR, CTS, CLV models and incorporate into business decision-making process

  • Facilitate customer switching analysis and discussion, providing recommendations on timing and direction

  • Pre-emptively assess risk and opportunity within each portfolio for discussion and action as required

  • Build / maintain cash forecasting process for Canada Home

  • Manage DEML/US inter-affiliate financial governance

  • Capable of developing, growing and mentoring a high-performing organization including development and succession plans to continuously improve employee satisfaction (focused on product management, product design and analytics)

  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Working conditions:

  • Ability to travel in the United States or Canada

  • Ability to participate in video conference meetings 5 days per week

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

  • Previous experience in a leadership role, developing and instilling best in class business performance management strategies and processes

  • 10+ years of business experience in one or more residential consumer-facing industries (e.g., energy, gas, utilities, telecom, insurance, financial, or other consumer service company)

  • Proven track record as a leader of high-performance teams in this function and demonstrating excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Great planning, organizational, and creative thinking skills

 

Preferred Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in Canadian energy markets

  • CPA, MBA or Master’s Degree
